A tribute to my brother

Goodbye My Darling Brother Jim

by Chrissy710

Good Bye My Darling Brother Jim

My darling brother passed away,
Last Tuesday in the early morn.
My words now fail, what can I say
As tears run free, my heart is torn.

A letter I shall write to you,
And seal it with a loving kiss.
Then, toss it high into the wind,
You'll know it's from your sister Chris.

Dear Jim,
You quietly left us without a word,
but you leave your mark upon our hearts,
and we will remember you.

Through my tears I think back to the days
when we were two small kids running around
out on the farm, carefree, together,
exploring our world.

As the years passed we grew, and so did
our love and respect for each other.
We have shared so many times,
both good and bad, but our bond
remains so strong. I have always
enjoyed seeing you and sharing our lives,
stories, and special events.

So much. I do not know where to begin,
but my memories are here with me
now and always.

We were very similar in many ways
and understood each other so well,
and that added to our rich history.

We laughed so much sometimes, until
tears ran down our faces and these
times I will cherish.

We had so much good fortune in our lives
through our lovely family and friends,
with who I now share my overwhelming grief.

So my darling brother Jim,
May you Rest In Peace.

I know you will always be with me
and I only need to think of you
and I will smile.

Thank you for loving me so much.
With all my love Chris.

Into the envelope it goes,
This letter sealed and on its way.
I see it rise upon the wind
You will receive it now today.

My darling brother Jim passed away early Tuesday 27th October in his sleep.
He had recently had cardiac surgery (about 2 months ago) and we all thought everything would be alright, he seemed to be recovering pretty well, but this was not to be
Through a phone connection and face time with his wife and daughter I was able to say goodbye to him at home after the ambulance could do no more. He looked peaceful and I know he has gone to be with my Dad.
I am on the way shortly today, to travel from Victoria into NEW South Wales for his funeral on Wed 4th ( pending on exemptions and border passes which has been a nightmare to obtain and we are still home waiting test results, which will be negative as we have no Covid in our region for weeks now, still we have to jump through hoops and the amount of paperwork etc has been horrible with delays and new requirements . Grrrr don't get me started) I am also doing his Eulogy and want to pay him tribute as he so deserves.
It is with a heavy heart I have written this poem/ letter but I wanted to share this with my fanstory family also

I have awful trouble uploading my own photos so today I thank VMargaurite for her image sister and brother it really reminds me of Jim and me when we were growing up

Thank you for reading my work
