Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
Admitting to a nursing home.

I wonder now

I wonder if we were right in sending you away.

In the middle of the night you went searching for your long dead baby.
I wonder if we were right in sending you away.

In the middle of the night, you tried to go to church.
We stopped you, and you fought us hard.
We grew so tired.

I wonder if we were right in sending you away.

There were times when you seemed feverish and confused.

I wonder if we were right in sending you away.

Where you went still haunts me today.
They took an old army barracks and called it a home.
An open ward filled with old poor souls.

I wonder if we were right in sending you away.

We had no money to give you more comfort.
You cried to come home, but we left you there.

I wonder if we were right in sending you away.

And then you died.

I wonder if we were right in sending you away.

At the time we were at the end of our rope. Up all night trying to keep her safe. Looking back now, I wonder if we could have done something more. We had no medical help at the time and had no place to go we were pretty well just making ends meet.
A relative helped in getting her admitted. but I wonder now with so much more now know. I wonder if we were right in sending her away.
