Love transcends death

A Vampire's Proposal

by lancellot

Oh, my little one, I feel so cold within,
I crave the warmth of your living skin.
Young feminine innocence excites me so.
It drives a hunger no mortal can know.
~
Yet here you are listening without fear.
Reminding me of a love I once held dear.
~
But, I must not surrender to such desire,
once released, my thirst rages ever higher.
Like a plague, I’ve ravaged lands of life,
leaving only despair and everlasting strife.
~
You should go, for the hour grows late.
Stay here longer, and you seal your fate.
~
Don’t tempt me with your angelic face,
this old damned soul of long lost grace.
It’s true; once I did bask in His light,
a being of beauty with wings of white.
~
But that was so very, very long ago,
before being cursed for what I know.
~
Still, you don’t believe in Vampires.
More than words, your faith requires.
The sun is setting on yet another day,
as all that is holy slowly fades away.
~
Is it mortal fear in you, I now sense?
Your eyes are wide, and muscles tense.
~
Do you feel it creeping up your back?
Your heart pounds, fearing an attack.
His grace within the sun ruled the sky.
Now the Earth weeps, and angels cry.
~
With the night, my kind run the lands.
This is something all life understands.
~
Peoples' shutters close and doors lock,
as the dead and demons join my flock.
Join me as I sit upon my dark throne.
Be my bride, for I tire of being alone.
~
You are mortal and so wonder why?
True, with one errant kiss; you’ll die.
~
Have no fear, upon you, I will not feed.
Though blood sustains, it’s Love I need.
Together, we’ll rule as never before seen,
an Undead King and his Living Queen.
