A Poem for the contest.

Finding Peace

by Dolly'sPoems

If I could believe in a God, with devotion,
in heaven I'd queue with the people up there;
the church would be where I would make a commotion,
then hold someone's hand, with a stranger I'd share,

and pray for someone who just needed my prayers,
and speak with the one who could change hate to love;
I'd stand in the aisle to start climbing those stairs,
and leave all my troubles with God up above.

Alas in my heart all my faith has dried up,
when grief takes your soul, there’s a path you walk down;
a hole where you live without hope of a cup,
a seat in the depths of an ocean . . . you drown.

But time taught me that there’s a life to be lived,
a world that’s untapped, where the karma is good;
with faith I returned and began to forgive,
I’m not on my own, for our God understood.
