Chapter 1
Amidst Burning Stars

By Gypsy Blue Rose

I got your email

I didn't want to read

but part of me knew

we had reached the end.

You said you met someone

that was ‘a better fit'.

Did you forget?

Once we kept our passion aflame

in our tender hearts.

Don’t you remember all the times

we sailed through the night

amidst burning stars.

But I lost you

and there is no way

of turning back

to when our love

was more than enough.

I tried begging,

taking pills to dull the pain,

praying to God,

but it felt like

no one was above.

After an ocean of tears,

I moved on

but the grief remains inside

and I know

the flame of my  love

will never die.

Chapter 2
The Purple Rose

By Gypsy Blue Rose

it wasn’t the tears

that told me tales of her grief —

it was the last petal

of the opened rose

Chapter 3
~ Carried Away ~

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:poem in black font in my author notes

I’m carried away

tangled in the southern wind—

waking next to you

covered with the last stardust

and warmed by the rising sun

Author Notes Tanka is a Japanese unrhymed poem having about 12 to 31 syllables usually arranged in five lines and read in about two breaths in length when read aloud. The first poets who wrote tanka imitated the Japanese models of a 5-7-5-7-7 syllabic structure in five lines. This resulted in poems that were too long in comparison to Japanese tanka. The first tanka were padded or chopped to meet the fixed number of syllables. Additionally, the third line must transition from the descriptive and image-focused beginning lines into a reflective metaphor, simile, or personification for the closing lines. The subject matter varies, but most tanka are emotionally stirring or profound, and many are about love. click here if you want to read modern tanka examples === click here to read Tanka Society of America === click here if you want to read modern tanka rules

Chapter 4
I'm Envious of the Rain

By Gypsy Blue Rose

I’m envious of the rain

that touches your face

and paints

your body’s silhouette

I’m envious of the night

that cuddles with you

from dusk till dawn

while you dream of us

I’m envious of the wind

that tosses your hair

in a playful way

with susurrous of love

I wish you and your girl

the best in life

but part of me wishes

it wasn’t like that

it’s hard for me

to know you moved on

Author Notes Silhouette= the shape and outline of someone or something visible against a lighter background, the way the body is visible through wet clothes.

Susurrous = whispering or rustling sounds.

Chapter 6
I Forgot

By Gypsy Blue Rose

   I forgot …

we are not together

anymore

and the roses you gave me

with smooth stems

turned to thorns

I forgot …

you left me

with a bag of empty promises

and a load of lies

I forgot …

how cruel you are

not even in dreams,

you can commit

to love

I forgot …

after using my body

to pad your twisted ego

you left me lying there

on the freezing floor

I forgot …

Chapter 7
Moody Sea

By Gypsy Blue Rose

moody sea wind

wrecks my heart

with tempest thrusts

against jagged rocks

soft breeze

caressing my breasts

and mother hips

moody sea waves

tsunami

drown our love

sweeping away hope

tender tide

flows in and out

between my legs

Gray Sky

gray sky
and freezing wind
cut into my being
as a clogged river of tears
chokes at the dam
where putrid leaves
wait for a lotus to rise

Chapter 9
We Still Have Tonight

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:For the broken people

one last night

of making love

the way only you could —

in the morning

you’ll be gone

but we still have tonight

the summer eve breeze

makes itself at home

sneaking through

the open door

tossing your messy hair

but we still have tonight

a veil of jasmine scent

covers our bared skins

entwined with our smell

of lemon and lavender

of amber and musk

but we still have tonight

in the silver moonlight

your sienna eyes shine

with speckles of stars

and I get lost in your sky

miles away from home

but we still have tonight

your mouth tastes

   like chocolate-covered berries —

your kisses are so sweet

I never want to stop

kissing you

but we still have tonight

only the Nigel bird

knows my loneliness

as I hear his melancholic song

my heart yearns for us

and I don't want to say goodbye

but we still have tonight

Author Notes Nigel is the only New Zealand gannet bird of its kind. He died this week surrounded by 80 concrete birds. The decoy figures were originally placed on the island to lure more gannets to the island but ended up as the lonely bird's only companions.

The bird lived on Mana Island for almost three years and spent every one of those years trying to win the affection of the inanimate fake birds placed there by conservationists in an effort to repopulate the island. Nigel hoped to win the friendship of all the fake birds on the island, but there was one particular fake bird that truly won his heart, his concrete sweetheart. Nigel spent years completing mating rituals in order to win over his lover. He even built a nest for her and tried his best to groom her. Nigel never did woo his stone lover and his dead body was found next to her.

Chapter 10
Your Body Next to Mine

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:For Nigel

My hand tests the water

of the zigzagging river

that carries away

my melancholic mood

and summons me

to the deepest end

The wind sighs and whispers

your name

along with dried drifting leaves

carrying

my destined to fail

hope to find you

I taste bitter-sweet cranberries

and I'm tempted to try

the deadly brown recluse

all reminiscent of your love

The purple dusk is beautiful

and a last futile try to cheer me up

before the impending sunset

says goodbye

The mums smell like death

as I lie on the cold ground

yearning for the feeling

of your warm body

next to mine

Author Notes The brown recluse is a poisonous spider
Mums = chrysanthemum flowers
Chrysanthemums = are used at funerals in Spain, where I was born, I still can smell the mums at my mother's funeral

Chapter 11
It's a Long Winter Night

By Gypsy Blue Rose

it's a long winter night
and it feels longer without you—
all I can do is cry

my heart refuses to accept
you don't love me anymore —
it's a long winter night

I'm willing to live alone
and try to get you out of my mind—
but I'll miss you sometimes

I pretend it's okay
but I hate to order dinner for one —
I'm willing to live alone

my house is dark and cold
and I still have unopened boxes —
what is the point?

I know, I have to find a way
to forgive you and forgive myself —
but my home is dark and cold

Chapter 12
While you Sleep

By Gypsy Blue Rose

While you Sleep ...

the waning crescent moon
reigns the night sky
with unassuming  garb

the wind plays with chimes
on your front porch
and trees sway around your home

cheerful nightingales chirp
beautiful bird-songs
serenading your soul

creepy tree-shadows
sneak inside your room
through the open window
to touch you

I imagine what I would do

if I was there with you

            and ...
                  the moon
                        the chimes
                              the birds

Chapter 13
How Can you Stand there

By Gypsy Blue Rose

How can you stand there
so cold and distant
like you don't care?

It wasn't long ago
when we were one
my soul started at your end
yours started at mine
me on top
you below
me below
you on top

Once we were one
now you are as cold as ice
not even a shadow
of who you once were

How can you stand there like that?

I Have Loved You All Of My Life

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:poem in black font in my author notes

Our  kindred spirits

      dance to the gentle sounds

      of the wind and sea

And   when we die

      the melody won't stop

      our souls are forever entwined

For   now

      till life's surrender

      we will dance

TO  the rhythm of our hearts

as long as we are alive

      our tangled lives

      will transcend

      distance and time

Author Notes "I have crossed oceans of time to find you." - Bram Stoker's Dracula

=================================================

Our kindred spirits
dance to the gentle melody
of the ocean and sky

And when we die
the melody won't stop
our souls are entwined

For now
until our demise
we'll dance

To the rhythm of our hearts
as long as we are alive
our tangled lives
will transcend
distance and circumstance

Chapter 15
Wrinkles are a Map

By Gypsy Blue Rose

wrinkles are a map

of her hard life

and the simple dress

is too loose in all the places

where it used to be tight

once she was his muse

and his starving

hands touched her every part

outside and inside

it's not easy to realize

she can't turn back the clock

although the wild thing

she used to be is trapped

in the darkness of her mind

she lies sometimes

but she is kind

and tries to heal

other broken hearts

she is hard on herself

and hates every part

from the bottom to the top

though she is loving

to everyone else she finds

she suffers all the time,

happy pills

and happy hour

numbs the child inside

Take a Chance on Me

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:If You Would Like To Join the Finding Your Muse Club, please check my author notes

Take a chance on me
I am not that bad
just a girl a bit too young
that messes up
here and there

... and ...
I will love you
all the time

I'll add love notes
in your lunch bag
and cook 'almost good' dinners
and for dessert ...
I will be your sexy ... anything

... and ...
I will love you
... all the time

all I ask is simple love —
honesty, affection,
humor, and faith in us
even when I'm without makeup
or crazy, loony, nuts
(at that time of the month)

... and ...
I will love you
all the time

Chapter 17
The Boogeyman

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:Dedicated to Dean Kuch, may he rest in peace

At the break of dusk,

I hear the demon below and behind.

It teases and plays with my head

to drive me insane.

frightful fiend from hell

that never stops to rest.

It lurks in the halls all night,

i'll torment me till I die.

My dad and sister think I lie,

I feel like I’m going mad.

Who is going to believe a kid?

Grown-ups look at me aghast.

I know soon it'll drag me to hell

where I'll stay.

Looking for Venus

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:for a friend

Every night you look up at the sky

searching for Venus amidst stardust

around the brilliant burning sun

and, as you know, she waits for you.

Tell me, did she sweep you off your feet

and embrace you with shooting stars?

Tell me, did you see her gazing back at you

while you were looking for her?

Chapter 21
Sizzling Sunrise's Color Bomb

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:Dedicated to My Muse

let me touch your skin
with a warm southern wind
you won't even know I'm here
till you see the river reed wave

but my fragrance gives me away ...
subtle lavender, lemon, and amber musk,
blended with dew-drenched grass

as the sizzling sunrise's color bomb
bursts with cobalt blue, red lust,
burnt sienna orange, and lemon meringue

painted snipe shakes the night off
with its hu-hu-hu and drumming
while the coffee maker drips drips drips

Chapter 22
I Wish ...

By Gypsy Blue Rose

I wish
you could see yourself
through my eyes
then you would see
how beautiful you are.

I hate myself
my body and soul,

I love you
no matter what you say or do
I'll always be here
when you fall
and when it's too hard
and painful
to go on
I'll be here to pick you up

All I want to do is cry
I feel numb
and hollowed inside

My child,
there's no reason to change to be loved,
embrace yourself
the way I do

I feel like a square
trying to fit in a star
there is no place
where I belong
I don't have a home

Face each day
with certainty
that you belong
and wherever
you go is home

I fall short
I am not good enough
I could be so much more
and better than I am

You are perfect
the way you are
just breathe
and hold on
for the wild ride
that is life
I'll be by your side

I wish ...

Entry for "The Finding Your Muse Club" event. The club is for poets who are looking for ways to find and keep their muse. This week we are switching a story's Point Of View (POV). I changed the third-person POV to the first-person POV.

I chose a Stephen King book, "Rose Madder". It's a horror/fantasy novel published in 1995. It deals with the effects of domestic violence if you want to read more, click here

NATIONAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CRISIS LINE 800-799-7233

many people blame the abused wife for staying. Most women are afraid for their lives and if they have children it's even worse.

The cycle of abuse often goes through four main stages: tension, incident, reconciliation, and calm. Abusive behaviors may escalate from cycle to cycle, although this isnâ??t always the case.

Chapter 32
Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Queen

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:A Little Halloween Dark Humor

Marie, the Voodoo Queen

glided across the Piney Woods

foraging for herbs, spices, and roots

as she was a gifted cook.

She was well-known in town

for her culinary gift.

Kids knew she had the best treats:

home-baked cookies,

chocolate fudge,

and juicy red apples

Marie loved Halloween

and enjoyed sharing

her tasty food,

especially with runaway youth.

Once a year

she invited the town folk

for a feast fit for Kings and Queens

everyone loved her Louisiana Beef Stew

   her secret ingrediant—

young tender flesh

Author Notes A little Halloween dark humor.

The most famous voodoo queen was Marie Laveau (1794-1881). Louisiana Voodoo is an African religion that originated in Louisiana. It arose through a process of combining traditional religions of West Africa, the Roman Catholic form of Christianity, and Haitian Vodou. No central authority is in control of Louisiana Voodoo, which is organized through autonomous groups. wikipedia

Author Notes Horror Haiku is written by Japanese poets too. They call it "Hora Haiku" which has the same rules as haiku but the topic is horror. Dean Kuch and I wrote a published horror haiku book.

Zombie apocalypse is a genre of fiction in which society collapses due to overwhelming swarms of zombies.

Shelley has inspired me to write a brevette (*=*)

The Brevette, created by Emily Romano consists of a subject (noun), verb, and object (noun), in this exact order. The verb should show an ongoing action. This is done by spacing out the letters in the verb. There are only 3 words in the poem, giving it the title Brevette.

Each of the three words may have any number of syllables, but it is desirable that the poem has balance in the choice of these words. Unlike haiku, there are no other rules to follow.

At the Precipice of Your Lips

By Gypsy Blue Rose

At the Precipice of Your Lips

when you ignite my passion

in the deepest depth of my heart

I surrender my being

and my thoughts are full to the rim

with loving memories of us

strolling at the shore

with our feet covered in sand

all I want

is to taste the salt on your lips

and I can't be far from your touch

like an abandoned child

I dream to be cuddled in your arms,

jealous of the wind

that kisses your gold-sprinkled skin

and gets tangled in your hair

as the sun rises and sets in your eyes

where my happiness starts and ends

at the open windows of your soul

and all I need is to kiss your lips

until we get lost in our deepest

awe and reverie

Chapter 37
Crossing the Oceans of Time

By Gypsy Blue Rose

the cruel ocean between us

can't drown my passion and desire,

even tsunamis can't deter my love

with the depth of aching emotions

tangled with flirtatious waves

that no one can restrain

~€~

"I would travel through seas of time to find you"

~€~

the ruthless land

can't tame my wild nature

and I crave to gently bite

your lips, your neck, and your ears,

because without your body next to mine

I'll starve from lack of sustenance

when you come for me, all you will find

is a bag of bones strewn about

~€~

"I would travel through seas of time to find you"

~€~

the merciless sky

taunts my lying eyes

when each night we see the same

moon and stars

as Venus guides our souls

across the universe

and each day we lie on the sand

beneath the same sun

~€~

"I would travel through seas of time to find you"

Author Notes A fantasy love poem.

The repeating phrase is a line from - Dracula, Bran Stoker
"I have crossed oceans of time to find you."
It's my favorite quote from movies.

Chapter 38
Gaia

By Gypsy Blue Rose

~€~

come rest your weary bones

on the mossy-covered throne

of smooth polished rock

~€~

by the rushing clear river

where you can fish

delicious rainbow trout

~€~

as sunbeams glide between willows'

hugging boughs and shading leaves

amidst fragrant sweet passion flowers

~€~

feast on wild raspberries and nuts

then quench your thirst

with clear fresh water

~€~

sit back and listen

to the forest’s symphony

of birds, foxes, and crickets

~€~

forget all your troubles

let me take care of you

you are my sons and daughters

Chapter 39
My Eyes Say

By Gypsy Blue Rose

My Eyes Say,

your light is brighter

than the stars, moon, and sun.

I would happily die tonight

if I could see the sunset in your eyes.

My Lips Say,

they were created to kiss you

and get lost in your mouth.

The day and night will go on

but I will not be able to part.

My Hands Say,

we were created to touch

and explore each other's

valleys and peaks,

you are my new world to conquer.

People Say,

our love should never be

but how could I say no to you?

You are the air in my lungs,

without you, I cannot breathe.

Author Notes "Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs
being purged from the sparkling in lovers' eyes.
Being a sea nourished by lovers' tears
my bounty is as boundless as the sea,
my love as deep." - Romeo and Juliet, Willian Shakespeare

Chapter 40
As Long As You Are Alive

By Gypsy Blue Rose

as long as you're alive,

I'll feel you in my heart

and know it in my mind

I'll search the ocean

from the sizzling shore

to the deep abyss

I'll search the land

through colorless valleys

and pointless mountains

I'm barely living

tangled in the penumbra

of your absence

I'm utterly alone

in the never-ending night

of my unloved soul

Author Notes Penumbras = darkness, shadows

Chapter 41
Loving You From Afar

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Warning: The author has noted that this contains the highest level of sexual content.

Today is a beautiful autumn day

but I can't get out of bed.

Yesterday, I saw him again.

      He was strolling with her

      across the elm trees promenade.

They looked so happy and content,

      the way we once were

      a thousand years ago.

The last thing he said to me,

      "don't worry my dear,

        we can still be friends."

Can men and women be friends?

I smiled and walked away

      swallowing my tears and pain.

Last night I dreamed of us,

a cruel copy of our past.

      Your body straddled on mine,

       my legs wrapped around you

       and our eyes locked

       wandering into the abyss

       of our souls and lives.

Can men and women be friends?

I thought you were the one.

      We shared so much ...

            passion

                  laughter

                     adventures

                              near and far.

Can men and women be friends?

Author Notes Men and women can be friends but not if they used to be a couple, or if one of the two are in love with the other.

Chapter 43
I Love You Even Then

By Gypsy Blue Rose

your nose is a bit long

and your smile tilts to the right

you have a rather dense

hairy chest

but I love you just like that

you still have tie-dye shirts

that you say are worth a lot

though they're as thin

as your favorite underpants

but I love you in any clothes you want

you snore at night

while I lie awake

counting the ways

I can kill you in your sleep

but I love you even then

Chapter 44
The Power you Have Over Me

By Gypsy Blue Rose

you have no idea
the power you have over me
and how much I need you

I'll cross continents
      land, ocean, and sky
      to be with you

tsunamis
may wash me off to shore

tempest wind, rain, and snow
         may thrust me around

earthquakes
        may shake my ground

volcanos
        may burn my skin

but neither
               sea,
                  earth,
                        wind,
                              or fire
can keep me away from you

Chapter 45
I Love You

By Gypsy Blue Rose

I love you,

      while never-ending creeks flow

      guiding stars to the sea

I love you,

since the first moment I met you

rowing in the river of time

I love you,

      your sweet nothing whispers

echo in my body and soul

I love you,

my desire runs wild through the forest

      breaking shadows of doubt

I love you

Chapter 46
~ Touch Me ~

By Gypsy Blue Rose

touch me in the spring
when crepe cherry blossoms'
veil our flourishing souls

touch me in the summer
on a sultry sun-kissed day
dancing around fallen fruit

touch me in autumn
when gold and crimson leaves
fall in disarray

touch me in winter
when snow falls outside
and inside ... our bodies are aflame

Chapter 47
Blustery Wind

By Gypsy Blue Rose

the blustery wind

cuts through

the snow buntings' feathers

and its wintery song

the howling wind

whistles an eerie tune

with the window panes

of the vacant home

and its memories

of Christmas past

Author Notes Snow Bunting is a rare bird that has adapted to live in very cold environments. It is found in the Arctic regions of North America, Eurasia, northern Canada, Alaska, and Scandinavia. At the End of the World

By Gypsy Blue Rose

one day ...

      the sea may dry

      the earth may crumble

      the sky may turn black

at the end of the world

one night ...

      I may pass away

      and I will be covered

but I will never stop

Chapter 50
Slipping Over the Edge of Sleep

By Gypsy Blue Rose

slipping over the edge of sleep,

I hold on to memories

of our last day together

as the sunset is loitering

dying shadows of gold and red

on empty streets

floods of yearning engulf me

and your uncommitted presence

can't quench my passion

because your lying eyes

tell me all I need to know

about your selfish soul

and my eyes full of longing

drown in memories of our love

knowing you will never return

as your touch

echoes on my skin

tangled with dying embers

Chapter 51
Tonight

By Gypsy Blue Rose

tonight,

a million moonflower trumpets

will herald the arrival

of the Lunar bride

with her wedding gown train

of astral wishing stars

and you will not be here

      to see them shine

tonight,

a million firework  bouquets

will explode in the summer sky

with trembling and flickering

blue lights

and you will not be here

      to see them shine

tomorrow,

the Sun bridegroom will rise

as the stars say goodbye

he will gently embrace

his fading bride

with the warmest touch

and you will not be here

      to see them shine

Chapter 52
For My Beloved

By Gypsy Blue Rose

My beloved,

Let your gaze penetrate

all the corners of my being

and take whatever you need.

I offer you all of me

with my songs of joy and grief.

My beloved,

Make the dusk fade to black.

Drink from my bosom's
vase when you are thirsty

and your throat is dry.

My beloved,

With every twilight

surrender to me

feed my desires

and I'll surrender too.

For my beloved

Chapter 53
For Adelynn

By Gypsy Blue Rose

I would do anything for you,

my Adelynn,

but you pretend not to see

my naked being

whenever you feel me

drowning in unrequited love

And it breaks my heart

when I see you so lost

staring aimlessly afar

beyond all of his lies

My Adelynn,

who cares if anyone knows

about your displaced love

for him

you deserve so much more

I offer you all I have —

my loyal soul,

my wounded heart,

my hidden desire,

and my broken dreams

... besides ...

a  n  y  t h i n g

you need and want

- except the memory of that hazy dusk-

strolling at the beach

when you needed

a shoulder to cry on

ignoring my wounded heart

full of unrequited love

Chapter 54
Forget to Forget you

By Gypsy Blue Rose

I wish I didn't love you

and desire you the way I do

I wish to forget you

but if I stop loving you

the pain would be unbearable

so I forget to forget you

and if I demand payment

for services rendered

I would ask not to desire you

but if we parted

the pain would be too much to bear

for my poor broken heart

and if I can't see you again

I wouldn't need my eyes

to cry a sea of tears

I can't undo

the way I love and need you

and my rebel adoration

and even if I stop

seeing you

desiring you

and even if I stop

thinking of you

my grief would be so much

I would forget to forget you

A Myriad Stars

By Gypsy Blue Rose

life of my life

I feel you deep inside

and wait for words

that may never come

I lose you

again and again

but I must try anyway

in our elusive game

my immortal desire

travels across the universe

through galaxies of time

and a myriad luminous stars
