Bitter and plucky, I strum

My twisted tale of Love

A sight so beautiful to behold

A person with a heart of gold

I want and want to be noticed

Stealing touched and glances, I dream

How happy you would be with me

If only you'd open your eyes to see

Yet, in the shadows, I remain

You still do not even know my name

Love is a pain that blackens the heart

Leading a soul to tear itself apart

Monster in the Moonlight

I longed to be your counterpart

Counterpart because you were my safe harbor

Harbor my delight

Delight at your passionate words spoken

Spoken no sooner than my world fell apart

apart as I learned my place in your batting order

Order that came in words unspoken

unspoken acts that shattered my will to fight

fight why I was nothing more than a plastic art

Art collected by an insecure hoarder

hoarder that left me heartbroken

heartbroken caught loving the evil knight

knight lay bloody as I took my first steps to restart

restart the life you took by committing murder

murder, I am a murderer, I am broken

Broken, I step out into the world as the monster in the moonlight

Death Will be your Bliss

You're consumed by your thirst

That's driving you into the abyss

You walk around blind, unknowing

Lost, consumed, immersed

Unable to listen you angrily hiss

Stalled and stale you've stopped growing

Believing you've been cursed

You close your eyes and dismiss

Engulfed in your world it's mind-blowing

How deeply you're submersed

Unable to see any of this

You won't believe for you are all-knowing

Running at your demise head-first

Believing death will be your bliss

I cannot see the truth

My gaze is obstructed

By the spider web, you spin

Paralyzed by your promises

I spend hours alone

Wondering what I have done wrong

To make you so distant

Paralyzed by your promises

I sing sad songs

Desperately judging myself

For not being enough

Paralyzed by your promises

I get lost in the haze

Leaving my mind to wander

If I am not better off dead

Knight in Shinning Armor

The thought of vengeance makes me Smile

You left me discarded and disgraced

Forgotten and out of sight

Alone and cold, I became hostile

My loving heart, you permanently erased

Your blood will sparkle in the moonlight

Death will be decided at my trial

A poison laced with a bad aftertaste

I will not go without a fight

You think me senile

Say, what a waste

But make no mistake about tonight

Temptation

Disgusted with the familiar feeling

I bite my lower lip

My eyes trace the curve of her hips

Up and down her golden tattooed flesh

Closing my eyes

I pray for absolution

I know will never come

My heart races as we shake hands

Her slim smooth fingers

Woven around my coarse skin

Sunday morning, I go to church

"Lead me not into temptation"

I pray on bended knee and folded hands

Following her home

I snatch her in the dead of night

She will satisfy my unnatural urges

I will cut and slice

Take from her

Enough to keep the monster calm

Till temptation comes again

Chapter 8
Empty Love

Accursed in this life, you made
A corrupt soul that cannot see
Loathing your every being
Longing to be by your side
Gloomy are my days
Followed by excruciating nights
You once confessed your love to me
Now you look at me with disgust
Wrapped in this whirlwind
I cannot get off
Overwhelmed with regret
I leave this world behind
And the love I thought we once shared
Is shown to be nothing by a ruse
As I died alone without you

A beastly knight with sharpened claws

Nefarious you conspire
You sorrow amplifier

You are so hostile

Dark and vile

You scorch the Earth with your hellfire
Hidden under your calm attire
You are fake, hard, and hostile
A mind that has long gone senile

My fate will be dire
For my death, they will require
The lawyers will compile
All the evidence for the trial

But from the small squire
No longer trapped in your shire
They can finally smile
With the death of the evil crocodile

Author Notes The scheme is AABB. I used two sets of words that almost rhyme with each other to try and create a more fluent rhyme. How did I do?

Chapter 12
Last Hurt

Looking at an old photograph
I hear your laugh
I miss your touch
You were my crutch

My world ruptured with your goodbye
No reason why
Discarded trash
So loud the crash

Shattered heart scatterd to the wind
My soul, you skinned
I cannot fight
Go in the light

Chapter 13
Devil My Friend

My journey has taken me far and wide
Yet, still, I stand alone with no one by my side
The dark, endless tunnel has left me depleted

Outraged, I scream into the night
Sinking deeper into the abyss
I cannot see the light

Reaching out in hopes of a hand to hold
I feel the loss of my very soul
Away the angels fly, leaving me alone with the demon inside

Anger and rage
Lash out from within
Hurting others the way I have been

Smeared on the pavement
I laugh in their face
Happy to see the pain I create

Not alone anymore; I'm finally seen
By the Devil who loves me
For the souls that I bring

Author Notes On vacation to PA to visit family, and it has been one issue after another. Sometimes when I come back home I tend to feel like I am drowning forgetting how strong I am. However, I am very grateful to spend time with my parents.

Chapter 14
I'm the Beast in Your Nightmares

How callous you were.
Evicting me from your life.
With cruel intent.
Did I mean nothing to you?
A meaningless encounter?

Wasted Time, Life, Love
Once the center of your world.
Emptiness fills me.
No longer Loved and Adored.
Unwanted and Discarded.

Broken. Twisted. Wrong.
My world shattered to pieces,
While yours remained strong.
Fire rages from deep within,
Creating a Vile Monster.

Thinking of revenge,
I no longer crave your touch,
Only your demise.
I'm coming, you best beware.
I'm the beast in your nightmares.

Author Notes I only intended to do one stanza, but it kept not feeling finished. So I continued sticking to the format, but it was still not finished. I had to take breaks and come back a few times before I finally felt closer. It was a challenge and fun. I hope you enjoy it.

Author Notes I started with the intent to write just the five lines required for the contest, but the piece just kept expanding. So, I entered the last stanza.

Longing for a glance
Absorbed into your shadow
I cease to exist

Chaos
Disorder
Lost in the shuffle
I have no life of my own
Forgotten by love

Broken
Cracked
No way to repair
Gone before my time is up
My soul dark and gray

Goodbye
Farewell
To my broken heart
To the one I used to be
A new me shall rise

No tears

Have pretty things over the dull?

My finger plays with the tip of the blade
We look so similar we could be twins
It takes only a moment to bring about change

Enticed
Allured
It is a seduction

Who would really know?

and send another soul to heaven again?

Chapter 19
The Devil's Night

Demons and monsters
walk the Earth
They come alive
They come to play
It's Halloween
It's their time
to dance in the moonlight
and have their way

The Devil watches
The Devil waits
He sends in disguise
his demons of fate
Evoking the corpses
the cursed and the damned
he manifests phantoms

with the snap of his hand

Before you appears
an apparition of fear
A bloodstained man
pitchfork in hand
eyeballs of pus
fangs dripping red
howls to the night
as you scream out with fright

A coven of witches
on broomsticks arrive
In a bubbling cauldron
you find yourself
being boiled alive
What sorcery the Devil has
to torture and tease
makes him glad

On this night
of tricks and treats
the Devil's free
to run amuck
Beware the lurking
or you may become
apart of the afterlife
for the Devil's fun

Devil's Delight

Burnt deep
Charred edges
Callous, Depraved
Exhausted, Hungry
Broke, Worn, Haunted, Lost
Tears, Lies, Burden, Despondent
Ruptured, Chipped claws, Gnarled drooling fangs
Struggle, Thrashing, Damned shrill screams of Hell
In the cemetery, they beg for peace
Savage, they spend their eternity
In a never-ending repeat
of the dark worldly horrors
that took their mortal lives
Consumed in their pain
The Devil laughs
in delight
and stands
tall

Author Notes Etheree consists of 10 lines going from 1 syllable on the first line and up to 10 on the last. Can also be done going 10 down to one.

I did an inverted reverest. It was difficult at times, but I found the challenge fun.

Meet Our Maker

Your deception tore it apart
I've tried to restart
Jump in and take part

But I cannot conceal
The hurt I feel
It's so surreal
Your heart of alloy steel

Why the lie?
Just say the word, say goodbye
When confronted, you deny
Having an unsuspecting fall guy

A danger to my circuit breaker
You live your life as one big faker
It may keep me from God's acre
But tonight, I send you to meet our maker
