There were two animal friends who lived on a farm adjacent to the woods. Holy, the cow, and Nip, the cat, went for a walk. As they got closer to the edge of the woods, they saw a strange spherical object hovering above the ground. The light beamed on the field.
"Look", said the cow, "Its beaming up strange leaves"
"Must be demand is growing and supply is short" said Nip
"Why is that?" Asked the cow, I did hear the farmer talking about Aliens coming down here to get some, but he seemed like he was drunk"
"HOLY COW!", Yowled NIp, "Don't you know they are marijuana leaves?"
,
"I only heard it called Weed " mooed Holy, "So THAT'S why I'm so happy after chewing leaves over in that field".
"Yes, it's time to 'Nip in the bud' from the Aliens. We should grow it inside the barn so the farmer can stay 'high on life'!"
Then the two chuckled as they went home.

Mermaids bizarre and mythical
They don't look like us you see
Confused identity half girl, half fish
That's something I'd like to be
I wonder where they shop for bras
Don't have to stop to wear panties
There's no need to do any laundry
Each one wears nature's fancies
Their tails end in a 'v' shaped fluke
The strong tail helps them to swim
The torso covered in silvery scales
Shines in waters deep and dim
Their makeup is always in place
Mermaids' figures look the same
Beautiful hair and bodily charms
Are picture perfect for a frame
Be sure the songs sirens sing
Lure sailors each night and day
But to dash ships on the rocks
Be a mermaid? No! I think I'll stay

High above us are clouds night and day
Sigh! We have some heaven sent moods
Cry for help, depressed and overall grey
Why, each parallels one of life’s ‘tudes
White fluffy lighted-hearted quickly move by
Fight ones move with heaven-made noise
Night dark clouds are sad, full, ready to cry
Sight of hued colors from God’s sun’s joys

I chose the second option
LENTO A Lento consists of: ***two quatrains with a fixed rhyme scheme of abcb, defe )there is another option explained further down that is acceptable) *** the second and fourth lines of each stanza must rhyme ***OPTIONAL*** Try rhyming the first and third lines as well as the second and fourth lines of each stanza in this rhyming pattern: abab, cdcd. ******* The FIRST words of each verse must rhyme. There is no fixed syllable structure, but keeping a good, flowing rhythm is recommended. ******* |

"...animals have moody days, they handle them better than humans"
Betty White
They never lie
Excuse themselves
Withhold their love
Manipulate
Animals do not blame others
As humans do
Moods don't excuse abuse

A two-line quotation (Free verse but the max total of sixteen syllables - must be concise and memorable) followed by a quatrain, four lines each of four syllables finally an 8-4-6 syllable envoi that moves us on somewhere...it should have a "satori" feeling.

'Red Devil' is sometimes his name
Confusing his predators is the game
His patterning is very strange and so
It's hard to judge if he will come or go
His face is unbelievable, it's not fake
I show you his body for truth's sake

Everyday nature talks without words
But communicates by sights and sound
We're woken up by the songs of the birds
The sun appears with its warming glow
And flowers lift their heads, nod and sway
Trees shake leaves while breezes do blow
In the warmest part of the whole day
People are busy, while sun gives pleasure
Its rays reach out causing shadows to play
Stars wink at us and twinkle in sight
The moon casts its silvery glow on earth
Creatures appear which feed at night
Stars glisten and wink in heavens above
A beautiful display of God's celestial home
For those who believe in His eternal love

Six feet tall with eyes of brown
Big long feet just like a clown
Of happy mood not depressed
Unkind words I keep suppressed
Sensitive nature and easily hurt
During my preteen growth spurt
I now have grown up to be sage
Gathering knowledge at any age
Loving, caring, sharing, romantic
Now I'm getting more pedantic
I'm a mystery all rolled into one
My two minds just have fun
Oops! I just missed out two more
I write poetry till my derriere is sore
I'm always late in all that I do
Including writing reviews for you

Gave up his life
For others' strife
Was the definition of brave
Freedoms to save
Fought for their right
With all his might
True altruism is now shown
On the unknown
Battlefield site
Of his brave fight

Staphylococcus won't go away
Still plagues me even today
I had surgery to replace my hip
5 years ago, a nightmarish trip
This bacteria doesn't give in
Self protected by biofilm thin
Mutates to be impervious to
Antibiotics given to me or you
I now have a terrible choice
bacteria mutates with no voice
To have 3 surgeries risky to do
If antibiotics can't get through
Either way my life is at stake
Either choice can be a mistake
Bacterial mutations make us pause
And biofilm real enemy of the cause
It's like any war, a destructive scene
But is microscopic, not easily seen
The war is between nature and man
Science is trying to do what it can
Size doesn't matter, nature may win
A race to survive from the dilemma I'm in
Author Notes | Bacteria and biofilm mutations make treatment challenging. I used the image shows the (blue) sticky surrounding biofilm protecting the (yellow) bad bacteria (staphyloccocus aureus) from attack of certain antibiotics,. |
