Chapter 1
The Horrid Beginning

By Mistydawn

Warning: The author has noted that this contains the highest level of violence.

INT. BEAUTIFUL MANSION SUMMIT NJ.-DAY

Anna 22 blond haired, blue eyed beauty gave up her modeling career to marry Brad. Brad 26 Brown hair, brown eyes, large muscular build. His looks, charm, and money make his quite a catch.

ANNA
How could you do this to me, to us, to our marriage?

Anna holds his shirt up. It has lipstick smears on the collar and smells like cheap perfume.

BRAD
You knew that I'm a ladies' man before you married me. So don't give me this sappy crying bullshit now.

ANNA
(On the verge of tears.)
I thought you'd give that up the day you said I do.

BRAD

Give up my honeys? Are you out of your freaking mind?

ANNA
(Tearful)

What about our love, our marriage?

BRAD

I never loved you.

Anna starts crying

BRAD (cont.'d)

The only reason I married you was to get Mom off my back.

ANNA
(Bawling)

So, I'm supposed to sit around this house and do nothing while you have your romantic encounters?

BRAD

That's the price you pay for all of this.

Brad gestures across the room.

ANNA
(Tearful)
You want your damn sluts? Well then you can have them, I'm done!

Anna storms towards the front door.

BRAD
You're not going anywhere.

Brad grabs a hold of her arm and slings her across the room. Her body crashes against a shelf. Books and other knickknacks fall around her.

Anna looks up, blood trickling down the side of her face.

ANNA
(Begging)
Please Brad, just let me go.

BRAD
So you can swindle me out of my inheritance? I don't think so.

ANNA
(Tearful)
I don't want your stinking money, I just want to leave.

Brad pictures his oldest brother Pete and how his wife took half of everything he had.

BRAD
You're not going anywhere, Anna, so deal with it.

Anna slowly rises up from the floor.

ANNA
I'm leaving whether you like it or not.

BRAD
No, you're staying right here and be my devoted wife or else.

ANNA
Or else what, Brad?

BRAD
(Very angry)
You don't want to know.

Brad stomps away.

ANNA
We'll just see about that.
                                                                                                                                                                                       CUT TO

INT. MANSION-AFTERNOON.
Anna is crying as she's carrying a small suitcase down the long elegant stairway. Brad storms out of the study and glances up at Anna.

BRAD
And just where do you think you're going?

ANNA
I'm leaving.

BRAD
I've already told you that you're not going anywhere.

ANNA
Try and stop me.

Anna raises up a small gun.

BRAD
(Laughing)
And just what are you going to do with that?

ANNA
(Stuttering)
Stay back or I'll shoot, I swear I will.

BRAD
(Laughing)
You don't have the balls to pull the trigger.
Anna cocks the gun.

ANNA
Take one more step and I swear I'll pull the trigger.

Brad step towards her. Anna squeezes the trigger.

GUNFIRE

                                                                                                                                                                                      CUT TO

INT. THE MANSION'S DARK DAMP BASEMENT-NIGHT.
The walls and floor are cement. The room is completely empty except for the small cot that Anna is tied to. Anna slowly opens her eyes and looks around. She tries to get off of the bed but the ties pull her back down.

THE DOOR SQUEAKS OPEN, HEAVY FOOTSTEPS COMES DOWN THE STAIRS.

BRAD
You finally decided to wake up, did you?

ANNA
(Tearful)
Please don't do this. I'll stay and be the wife you want me to be, I promise.

BRAD
It's a little late for that, don't you think?

ANNA
Please Brad, please give me another chance.

BRAD
So you can kill me when I'm sleeping, I don't think so.

ANNA
I swear, I won't try anything like that again.

BRAD
And ice water freezes in hell.

ANNA
Please, Brad, please let me go, I promise I'll be good.

BRAD
You don't have much choice now do you.

He lifts up the ropes and laughs.

BRAD
You know, I think I'm going to like this little arrangement. With you out of the picture I can bring my girls to the house anytime I want. I might even bring one down here to show you how a real woman satisfies her man, not that you ever could.

Laughing, Brad walks up the stairs

ANNA
(Begging)
Please don't leave, Brad, please.

Brad stops midway up the stairs and turns around.

BRAD
It's time you learned your place around here.
                                                                                                                                                                                     CUT TO

Anna weakly stumbles up the steps. Her skin is pale, hair a matted mess and she's mere bones. She has rope burns around her wrists where she pulled free. After a lot of struggle, she makes it to the top of the stairs. She puts her ear against the door. She opens the door and sees Brad and his new girl making love on the kitchen table. She opens the door a little further.

SQUEAKING DOOR.

Brad and the girl continue. Anna slowly slips through the opening towards the back door.Anna discovers the back door is padlocked. She starts to walk back the way she came
THE FLOOR CREEKS Brad turns around.

BRAD
Where the hell do you think you're going?

The mistress sits up and covers herself with her hands.

BREANNA
(Snobby)
Who is she, Brad?

ANNA
I'm his wife.

BREANNA
Your wife, I thought you said that she's dead?
Brad turns towards Breanna.

BRAD
I can explain.

Anna grabs a cast Iron skillet off the top of the stove.

ANNA
Explain this, Brad.

Anna swings the pan smacking the back of Brad's head. He falls to the floor.
Breanna screams as she climbs off the table. Anna walks towards her.

ANNA
This is for screwing my husband.

Anna swings the pan again. Breanna falls across the table.

                                                                                                                                                                                    Fade to black.

Chapter 2
Cause of Death Unknown

By Mistydawn

Fade in:

INT. SUMMIT NEW JERSEY POLICE STATION -  MORNING.

The walls and floors are dark wood. The main desk sits directly in front of the door. Off to the left are the restrooms, vending machine. To the right is a large work area. Several metal desks are sitting back to back across the room. There are four larger wooden desks for the detectives in the center.

With her eyes still on the monitor, Elizabeth reaches across her desk and scoops up the phone.

ELIZABETH (os)

(filtered)

Summit PD, how may I help you? Calm down and say that again, please.

She glances at her partner sitting across from her.

Kevin looks up.

ELIZABETH

Repeat the address one more time.

Elizabeth searches her desk for a pen. Finding one, she scribbles down the address.

ELIZABETH

We'll be right over.

Putting the phone on the cradle, Elizabeth turns towards her partners.

ELIZABETH

Jeff, Kevin, let's roll.

Standing up, Elizabeth grabs her equipment from her drawer.

JEFF

What's going on, Sergeant?

ELIZABETH

Another lady was found dead in her home.

Kevin springs up from his chair.

KEVIN

That's the third one this month.

Jeff grabs the piece of paper from the sergeant's desk.

JEFF

I'll tell the Captain where we're going, have the ME, and the forensics team meet us there.

Jack the captain steps out of his office.

JACK

Sergeant, Detectives.

JEFF

We already know.

JACK

Be sure to keep me posted.

KEVIN

Copy that, Captain.                                                                                                                               CUT TO:

EXT. ROTARY DRIVE SUMMIT NEW JERSEY- MID-AFTERNOON.

Anna dressed up as an elderly lady is hurrying down the sidewalk.

A large mangy mutt is snarling just a few feet behind her. Drool is dripping from the side of the dog's mouth as he bares his long white fangs. The fur around his mouth has a reddish tinge.

Anna darts across the porch and bangs on the front door.

ANNA
(Begging)

Let me in, please let me in.

JULIE MONTGOMERY

Can I help you?

ANNA
(Panicked)

The dog is trying to attack me.

Pushing Julie out of the way, Anna steps into the house and then closes the door behind her.

ANNA

(breathless, trembling)

Thank you so much.

JULIE

Please sit down before you fall.

Julie motions to a small chair beside her. Anna sits down.

ANNA

I better call the police and tell them about the dog.

Anna reaches into her purse and pulls out a tube of lipstick.

ANNA
(Nervously laughs)

I must be more shaken up than I thought.

Anna reaches into her purse again. Her hand hits the side, knocking it off her lap. Item scatters across the floor.

ANNA

Oh dear, look what I've done.

JULIE

Let me get that for you.

Julie cleans up the mess.

Anna holds a tube of lipstick against the lady's arm. Julie springs back.

JULIE

What the...

Julie collapses on the cold tile floor.

ANNA

You shouldn't screw other people's husbands, dear.

Anna collects the rest of her things and then looks over at Julie.

ANNA
(Smiling)

One down, a dozen to go.

Opening the door, Anna steps outside.

ANNA

Time to go, Sparky.

The vicious dog crawls out from underneath the bushes. Anna pats him on the head.

ANNA

You almost had me convinced you're vicious.

The dog licks the side of her face.

ANNA
(Laughing)

I know you'd never hurt me.

She gives the dog a treat.

ANNA

Our friendship is the only good thing that came out of my marriage.

The dog growls.

ANNA
(Smiling)

Don't worry boy, I made sure that Brad won't hurt either of us again.                                    CUT TO:

1 MONTH PRIOR

INT. KITCHEN OF ANNA AND BRAD'S MANSION - NIGHT.

Grabbing a butcher knife off the counter Anna stabs Brad in the chest over and over again. Blood is pooling all around him.

ANNA
(screaming)
Die bastard, die!

She takes the knife out of Brad's corpse and wipes off the handle then places it in his mistresses' hand.
The mistress is slowly waking up. Stepping back, Anna admires her handy work.

ANNA
(smiling)
That will take care of you.

Grabbing Brad's phone off the counter, she dials the police.

ANNA
A couple is fighting at 411 Williams Street, you need to get over there right away.

Hanging up the phone, she turns towards the duo.

ANNA
Ain't Karma a bitch.

Laughing, Anna walks away.

                                                                                                               -                          CUT TO:

PRESENT DAY
EXT. ROTARY DRIVE SUMMIT NEW JERSEY- MID-AFTERNOON.

ANNA

I hope his little tramp enjoys her time in the state pen.

The dog licks her face again.

ANNA

You didn't like her either, did you boy?

The dog growls.

ANNA
(Laughing)

That's how I feel too. Come on, boy. It's time to go.

Barking, the dog follows behind her.                                                                                                   CUT TO:

EXT.  WOLF ROAD SUMMIT NEW JERSEY - MID-AFTERNOON.

Elizabeth and her two detectives pull up to the house. Yellow police tape is strung around the yard. A forensics team is carrying equipment inside.

KEVIN

Just like I thought.

ELIZABETH

What are you talking about, Kevin?

KEVIN

The pattern is the same as the last two. The deaths are in a classy neighborhood, the victims are well-to-do.

ELIZABETH

Nothing was taken from the last two homes, correct?

KEVIN

Right, and the ME ruled the cause of death as undetermined pending an investigation. It just seems a little odd that three prominent citizens suddenly drop dead.

ELIZABETH

The first two don't have any health conditions?

KEVIN

Not one that I'm aware of.

JEFF

That does seem very odd, Sergeant.

ELIZABETH

I want you to look into medical history, including family records when we get back to the station, I'm going to have Mary run a tox screen, see what she can find.

Climbing out of the car, Elizabeth and Kevin heads towards the house. Jeff scans the neighborhood for potential witnesses.

MARY- the ME is walking down the steps shaking her head.

ELIZABETH

What can you tell me, Mary?

MARY

I'm leaving the cause of death as undetermined until I can get her back to the lab.

ELIZABETH

You couldn't find anything?

MARY

Not a thing, just like the others.

ELIZABETH

Did you run a tox screen on the first two?

MARY

I'm going to do that now.

ELIZABETH

Let me know what you find out.

MARY

I will.

Jeff walks towards the sergeant.

JEFF

I just spoke to the lady across the street, she said that she didn't see or hear anything unusual.

ELIZABETH

Talk to the other neighbors, see if they saw something. Find out if the area has video surveillance or a neighborhood watch program.

JEFF

Yes, Sergeant.

Jeff walks across the lawn.

Elizabeth is walking up the stairs when Kevin steps on the porch.

KEVIN

It doesn't look like anything's been taken and there is no sign of a struggle or a break in.

ELIZABETH

Has the family been notified?

KEVIN

The husband is on his way.

ELIZABETH

Ask him if she has any preexisting health conditions.

KEVIN

I will.

                                                                                                                                                            CUT TO:

EXT. CLOUDY DAY AT THE PARK

The sky is darkening as the heavy rain clouds quickly move in. The only person in the park is a lady sitting on a bench gazing across the lake, an occasional jogger runs by.
Anna strolls down the sidewalk towards the benches. Seeing a jogger is about to pass her, Anna quickly turns away. Reaching the bench, Anna sits down.

ANNA

I just love watching the ducks, don't you?

HANNA

(Annoyed by the interruption.)

I suppose they are kind of cute.

Hanna looks down at her expensive watch, and then anxiously looks around.

ANNA

Are you meeting someone?

Hanna

(Irritated)

He was supposed to be here over a half hour ago.

Anna

(Laughing)

And men say it's the women who are always late.

Hanna continues to look around.

Anna pulls a small grey device out of her purse.

ANNA

I have a phone if you'd like to call.

Anna tries to hand her the flip phone with the tube of lipstick hidden underneath. Hanna pushes her hand away.

HANNA

I'm sure he'll be here in a minute.

Hanna continues to look around.

ANNA

I hope he gets here before it rains.

Hanna looks up at the darkening skies.

HANNA

Maybe I should call him.

Hanna reaches for the phone then quickly pulls away.

HANNA

Ouch.

ANNA

(Concerned look on her face)

What's wrong, dear?

HANNA

Something poked me...

Hanna collapses on the bench. Anna puts the phone and lipstick in her pocket.

ANNA

(Smiling)

That's the last bootie call you'll ever try and make.

Anna positions the body to make it look like she's sleeping.

ANNA

Rot in hell.

Anna walks away.

Dan scoops something off of the sidewalk then runs up to Anna.

DAN

Ma'am, Ma'am.

Anna nervously picks up her pace.

Catching up, Dan grabs a hold of her shoulder.

Anna jumps.

DAN

You dropped this on the sidewalk.

ANNA

That's very kind of you, dear.

Anna takes the phone away.

DAN

(Smiling)

No problem.

Dan jogs off

                                                                                                                                                             CUT TO:

INT. NEW JERSEY POLICE STATION - LATE AFTERNOON.

The two detectives and the Sergeant are sitting at their desk.

ELIZABETH

What do we know about the case so far?

JOHN

Three women all from prominent families were found dead in their homes. Their deaths are written as undetermined pending an investigation.

KEVIN

All three are in their mid-thirties and as far as I can tell were in good health.

ELIZABETH

We're still waiting on the toxicology report, right?

JOHN

That's correct, Sergeant

ELIZABETH

Is there any evidence that proves differently?

KEVIN

Not a thing.

JOHN

Three wealthy citizens dying within a few weeks of each other has to be more than a coincidence, right?

ELIZABETH

Where were their spouses when their deaths occurred?

JOHN

One was at a country club, the second on a business trip, and the third was out of the country.

ELIZABETH

Their alibis check out?

JOHN

Yes, Sergeant.

ELIZABETH

What were there marriages like?

JOHN

There weren't any marital issues as far as I can see.

ELIZABETH

No infidelity, scorned lovers, exes in the picture?

JOHN

None that I can find.

ELIZABETH

How about enemies?

JOHN

I'm working on the list now and forensics is looking at footage from the traffic cam, hoping they can come up with something.

ELIZABETH

Kevin, see if the ME or forensics have anything, I'll see if I can find a connection between the victims.

JOHN

You believe they were murdered don't you, Sergeant?

ELIZABETH

Three in a matter of weeks seems a little too coincidental to me.

                                                                                                                                                               CUT TO:

EXT. PARKING LOT ON THE CORNER OF BROAD AND RAiLROAD AVENUE- MID-DAY.

Anna is sitting in her car at the empty lot waiting for her next victim. Her dog is sitting in the front seat beside her. Crawling across her, the dog paws at the door.

ANNA

(Aggravated)

We'll go for a walk in a minute.

Anna pushes him off her lap. The dog barks.

ANNA

I know, I know, just hold on a little longer, alright, bud?

The dog whines.

ANNA

You'll be alright.

A car pulls into the lot.

ANNA

 There she is.

The dog crawls on Anna's lap when she reaches for the handle. She pushes him away.

ANNA

No, stay.

The dog whines a lot louder this time.

ANNA

You'll be alright.

Running across the lot, Anna pounds on the ladies window.

ANNA

Please help me.

Seeing a lady pounding on the glass, Marci rolls down her window.

A cop car pulls into the lot.

Anna darts to her car.
Anna starts to pull away when she sees a cop standing alongside her vehicle.

   Fade out:

Chapter 3
Possible Suspect

By Mistydawn

EXT. THE CORNER OF BROAD AND RAILWAY AVENUE.
The dark clouds are moving in, you can hear thunder in the distance. Lightning follows a short time later.
Anna nervously glances up at the officer.
He has an impatient look on his face. His arms are crossed in front of him.
Anna rolls down her window.

ANNA
Can I help you, officer?

OFFICER
You're not allowed to park here anymore.

ANNA
I'm sorry, officer, I didn't know.

The officer looks around.

OFFICER
The city was supposed to put up no parking signs weeks ago but I guess they haven't got around to it yet.

ANNA
Well, thank you for letting me know.

The officer walks away.

ANNA
I thought we were done for, Sparky.

The dog barks.

                                                                                                                                                             CUT TO:

EXT. BRIANT PARK - MID-MORNING
The sky is darkening, thunder and lightning are close by. Pulling up to the scene the detectives climb out of their car.
Elizabeth glances up at the sky.

ELIZABETH
I hope forensic can process the scene before the evidence gets washed away.

KEVIN
I can help them if you want.

ELIZABETH
I'm sure they'd appreciate the extra hand.

Seeing Mike (32 sand blond hair, tall muscular) working by the bench Elizabeth walks towards him.

MIKE
Sergeant.

ELIZABETH
What can you tell me?

MIKE
The lady was found lying on a bench, it was made to look like she was sleeping. A jogger came over to wake her, warn her about the storm. When she didn't respond he checked her pulse then called 911.

ELIZABETH
Where is the jogger now?

Mike points to a man standing by an old-fashioned styled street lamp.

JEFF
I'll talk to him, Sergeant.

ELIZABETH
Have patrol canvas the area for more witnesses too.

She turns towards her other detective.

ELIZABETH
I want you to check the cameras when you're done helping forensics.

KEVIN
Yes, Sergeant.

Elizabeth turns towards Mike.

ELIZABETH
What is her time of death?

MIKE
According to body temperature, I'd say it was within the last hour.

ELIZABETH
What's the cause of death?

MIKE
The ME is leaving it undetermined pending an autopsy.

ELIZABETH
Did you find any evidence?

MIKE
We found several fingerprints but it's going to take a while to identify them.

ELIZABETH
Anything else?

MIKE
I'm afraid not, Sergeant.

JEFF
(OS)
Sergeant.

ELIZABETH
Excuse me.

Elizabeth walks over to Jeff.

JEFF
Tell her what you just told me.

DAN
The only other person I saw in the park was a little old lady. But she's too old and frail to harm her.

He shakenly points towards the victim.

ELIZABETH
She may not have killed her but she could've seen who did. Can you describe her for me, please?

DAN
She's a short, rounded lady, I'd say in her late 80's early nineties. She had curly gray hair and wore a heavy tan coat and gold-framed glasses.

ELIZABETH
You're very observant.

DAN
I normally don't pay that much attention, but she reminds me of my grandma.

ELIZABETH
How tall was she?

DAN
She came up to here.

He raises his hand, midway to his chest.

ELIZABETH
Around five foot?

DAN
That sounds about right.

ELIZABETH
Do you remember anything else about her?

DAN
She smelled like Ben-gay.

ELIZABETH
Jeff, take him back to the station and get him working with a sketch artist.

JEFF
Sure thing, Sergeant.

Elizabeth turns to leave when she sees Kevin walking towards her.

KEVIN
The park only has one camera, I'm having the supervisor pull the footage now.

ELIZABETH
Be sure to look for a short elderly lady.

KEVIN
Why, Sergeant?

ELIZABETH
She might be our killer.

KEVIN
Our serial killer is a gray-haired granny?

ELIZABETH
Could be.

                                                                                                                                                              CUT TO:

INT. ANNA'S APARTMENT - EARLY AFTERNOON.
The walls are faded off-white, paint is chipping in the corners, scraped up hardwood floors. There's a small hallway that leads to the front room. Her kitchen is to the right, bathroom and bedroom to the left.
Grabbing her remote off the table, she starts surfing the channels. Pulling off her gray wig, she scratches her head. She pulls off her mask and starts rubbing her face.

ANNA
All of this misery will be worth it in the end.

Smiling, she turns towards her dog.

ANNA
Are you hungry, Sparky?

The dog barks.

ANNA
Good, because I'm starving.

She starts to walk into the kitchen when an anchorman catches her attention.

ANCHORMAN
(OS)
In local news, four people were found dead in their homes. The cause of death is pending an investigation.

ANNA
Investigate all you want but you're not going to find anything.

Laughing, Anna walks into her kitchen.

                                                                                                                                                            CUT TO:

INT. SUMMIT POLICE STATION - THE FOLLOWING MORNING.
Jeff is tapping away at the keyboard at his desk when Jack and Elizabeth walk into the police station.
Jeff looks up from his computer.

JEFF
Morning, Sergeant, Captain.

JACK
(GRUMBLES)
Morning.

He takes a sip of coffee.

ELIZABETH
Morning Jeff, you're off to an early start.

JEFF
I wanted to finish my list, maybe come up with a new lead.

ELIZABETH
Did you find anything?

JEFF
Everyone has an alibi for the time of the murder.

Elizabeth picks up a piece of paper off her desk.

ELIZABETH
What's this?

JEFF
It's a tox report. Mary didn't find anything unusual in their systems. She said she's going to run an extensive screen, see if she can find something that way.

JACK
Did she say how long it'd take?

JEFF
No.

ELIZABETH
Did forensics find anything?

JEFF
Kevin is checking now.

ELIZABETH
What about the camera footage?

JEFF
We tried to run facial recognition but the image is too distorted. Forensics is trying to restore it now.

JACK
Let me know if they find anything.

ELIZABETH
We will, Captain.

Jeff reaches for his phone.

JEFF
(Filtered)
Summit PD, how may I help you? We'll be right there.

Jeff hangs up the phone.

JEFF
Sergeant, Captain, Mrs. Lowery was found dead in her home.

                                                                                                                                                            CUT TO:

ROTARY DRIVE SUMMIT NEW JERSEY - MORNING
The detectives pull up to see a distraught middle-aged man sitting on his steps crying.

ELIZABETH
I'll talk to the husband. Kevin, Jeff you talk to their neighbors, hopefully, they saw something.

JEFF
Yes, Sergeant.

ELIZABETH
Sir, My name is Elizabeth Bower, I'm with the Summit PD. I am so sorry for your loss.

BRIAN
(Sobbing)
I don't know how I'm going to live without her, I just don't know.

ELIZABETH
When did you find her?

BRIAN
Right before I called you. I came home early to surprise her and found her lying dead on the floor. Why her, why my precious Julia?

ELIZABETH
Can anyone verify your whereabouts today?

BRIAN
I've been on a plane all morning. Ask the airline they'll tell you I was there.

ELIZABETH
When was the last time you spoke to your wife?

BRIAN
Right before I boarded the plane.

ELIZABETH
How did she seem?

BRIAN
Like her normal self.

ELIZABETH
Does she have any enemies, someone that would want to hurt her?

BRIAN
No, she's loved by everyone.

ELIZABETH
Did she mention any hangup calls or threats?

BRIAN
No.

ELIZABETH
Was she having trouble with someone at work?

BRIAN
I make enough to where she doesn't have to work.

ELIZABETH
Do you have a security camera?

BRIAN
We have one outside the house. The recorder is in my den.

ELIZABETH
Where were you again?

BRIAN
I was in New York on a business trip, I've been there all week. My colleagues will tell you they saw me.

Mary walks out of the house shaking her head.

ELIZABETH
Excuse me a minute.

She walks over to Mary.

ELIZABETH
What did you find out?

MARY
Her death appears to be undetermined like the rest of our victims.

Elizabeth walks back to Brian.

ELIZABETH
Does your wife have any Illnesses?

BRIAN
No, she and the baby are in perfect health. Her doctor said so last week. Oh my God, our baby, he's dead.

He starts crying again.

ELIZABETH
What is her doctor's name?

BRIAN
Dr. Goodman.

ELIZABETH
Thank you for your time.

Elizabeth walks into the house.

ELIZABETH
Did you find anything Mike?

MIKE
I found a silver wedding band in the corner. I'm guessing it slipped out of a pocket and rolled that way.

Elizabeth glances at the deceased's hand.

ELIZABETH
It isn't hers.

MIKE
No, it's a man's ring. I'd say it's a size ten or eleven.

ELIZABETH
Mr. Lowery was wearing a gold band similar to hers. Check the jewelry for DNA and fingerprints.

MIKE
Copy that Sergeant.

ELIZABETH
Has anyone checked the security footage?

MIKE
Someone managed to erase it. So Kurt took it to the lab to see if can be restored.

                                                                                                                                                              CUT TO:

INT. ANNA'S APARTMENT- MORNING
Anna is rushing around trying to get everything ready. Sparky is in the kitchen eating.

ANNA
Hurry up, Sparky, we have a lot to do today.

The dog barks.

ANNA
I have a big list of whores I want to take care of, stop them from hurting others the way they've hurt me.

                                                                                                                                                              Cut to:

INT. BASEMENT OF SUMMIT CATHOLIC CHURCH TWO YEARS PRIOR - DAY.
It's a small room with it's white painted cement walls and green carpet. There are long metal tables along the outer border. A small dance floor is on the right.
Anna and Brad take their first bite of cake as man and wife.

BRAD
This is our song.

Putting their plates on the table, Brad pulls Anna to the dance floor.
Anna looks over and sees Brianna hungrily eyeing Brad.

ANNA
Catch.

Jumping into his arms, Anna gazes into Brad's eyes

ANNA
(Dreamily whispers)
Till death do us part.

She gives him a big kiss.
Brianna storms out of the room.

                                                                                                                                                               CUT TO:

INT. PRESENT DAY ANNA'S APARTMENT.

ANNA
I should have known by the way she was watching him that something was going on. But I was so hopelessly in love, I didn't see the signs.

She wipes a tear from her cheek.

ANNA
They got what they deserved and so will all the others. Come on Sparky, let's go.

Barking, Sparky follows her to the door.

                                                                                                                                                               FADE TO BLACK:

Chapter 4
Faulty Plans

By Mistydawn

INT Summit Pd. - MID-MORNING.
The hallway is crowded with officers busily walking to and fro. The noise from all the commotion is almost deafening.
Elizabeth sees Mary heading towards their workstation when she steps through the front door. Officers get in her way as she tries to walk towards her.

ELIZABETH
(Yelling)
Mary, Mary.

Mary turns around.

ELIZABETH
Are you looking for me?

MARY
I wanted to let you know I didn't find anything unusual in our victim's blood system.

ELIZABETH
Not even with the extensive tox screen?

MARY
I'm afraid not. Since I can't find anything to prove otherwise, I have no choice but to rule their cause of deaths as unknown, pending an investigation.

ELIZABETH
There's no way five people just drop dead like that. It's inconceivable, it's it's impossible. You and I both know that.

MARY
I'm sorry Sergeant, but I don't know what else to check.

Elizabeth looks over at Mary who's on the verge of tears.

ELIZABETH
I'm sure you did everything you could.

MARY
I wish I could be more help.

ELIZABETH
Me too.

Mary starts to walk away when another thought occurs to her. She turns back around.

MARY
I could contact an old colleague and explain our situation. Maybe he'll agree to review my work, see if I missed something.

ELIZABETH
Anything is worth a try.

MARY
I'll let you know as soon as I hear something.

ELIZABETH
I'd appreciate that.

Mary walks towards the elevator.
Elizabeth is heading to her desk when she sees Kurt running down the hall.

KURT
(Breathless)
Sergeant, Sergeant, you'll never believe what I just found on the tape.

ELIZABETH
What, Kurt, what?

KURT
I found Myles Jenson leaving the house at 9:08 this morning.

ELIZABETH
You've given us the break we've been looking for, great job.

KURT
Thanks, Sergeant.

Smiling, Kurt walks towards the lab.
                                                                                          CUT TO:

INT. CAPTAINS' OFFICE - MID-MORNING
It's a small area with hardwood floors, faded green carpet. There is a bookcase to the left side and a one-way mirror to the right. His desk sits horizontally with the door. A large glass window overlooking the city is behind it.
Knocking on the door, Elizabeth steps into the room.
Jack looks up from his desk.

JACK
Do you need something, Sergeant?

ELIZABETH
Kurt just found Myles Henson leaving the Lowery residents at 9:08 this morning.

JACK
I want you, Jeff and Kevin to head on over. I'll meet you there with a warrant.

ELIZABETH
Yes, Captain.
                                                                                          CUT TO:

MYLES HENSON RESIDENCE FRANKLYN PL. - DAY.
Elizabeth bangs on the door.

ELIZABETH
Summit PD, open up.

She starts to knock again but stops when she hears someone shuffling towards the door.

JANET
(OS)
Just a minute.

A blond haired, blue-eyed lady in her mid-20's sleepily opens the door.

JANET
(Yawning)
Can I help you, officer?

ELIZABETH
I need to speak to Myles Henson.

JANET
He left for work a couple of hours ago.

ELIZABETH
Where does he work?

JANET
Hanson's Plumbing, of course.

Elizabeth turns towards her detectives.

JEFF
I'm on it, Sergeant.

He bolts down the hallway as Jack runs up the stairs.

JACK
We have a warrant to search your premises, so please step aside.

Handing her a piece of paper, he walks through the door. Elizabeth and Kevin follow behind him.

JANET
(Confused look on her face)
A warrant for what?

JACK
We believe he killed Mrs. Lowery this morning.

Janet steps in front of the officers.

JANET
Myles is a pussycat, he wouldn't hurt a soul.

JACK
You need to stay out of the way, let my officers do their job.

Jack pushes her aside again.
Angry, Janet storms towards the back of the apartment.
                                                                                         CUT TO:

INT. ANNA'S CAR WILLIAMS ST. SUMMIT NEW JERSEY - LATE MORNING.
Anna turns off her car and looks around the ritzy neighboorhood. She notices all of the expensive houses with their beautiful landscaped lawn and pricey toys sitting in the circle drive.

ANNA
I had it all too, but Brad took it away.
                                                                                           CUT TO:

INT. ANNA'S YELLOW LAMBORGINI - LATE AFTERNOON SIX MONTHS PRIOR.
Anna is driving back from the city after an exhausting day of shopping. Julia, her best friend is laughing, talking in the front seat beside her. The backseat is loaded down with the women's new finds.

JULIA
I think I got a good start on my summer wardrobe, don't you?

Anna glances behind her.

ANNA
(laughing)
That should be enough to get us through the first month.

The girls laugh.
                                                                                           CUT TO:

INT. ANNA'S CAR WILLIAMS ST. SUMMIT NEW JERSEY PRESENT DAY - LATE MORNING.

ANNA

We had it all, Sparky.

Wiping a tear from her cheek, she turns towards her dog.

ANNA
I want you to do exactly like you did yesterday, alright?

The dog growls.

ANNA
(Laughing)
Not now, you silly boy.

She pats the dog on the head, he licks her face.

An average height, older, rounded woman steps out on the porch as Anna approaches the house.

Surprised by her appearance, Anna stops.

ANNA
(Stunned)
I didn't think Brad would ever touch something like that. But he's a horney bastard, probably take what he can get, right boy?

The dog barks.
Anna glances at the porch again.

ANNA
Here we go.

Anna takes off running across the lawn. The dog is growling at her heels.

ANNA
(Yelling)
Help me, help me! Please, someone, help me!

The older lady turns around.

JUNE
Hurry, get inside.

June pushes her into the house then shuts the door behind them.

ANNA
(Breathlessly)
Thanks for saving me.

JUNE
Us old timers got to stick together. Oh, honey, you're shaking like a leaf. Here, sit down, I'll get you a glass of water.

Pulling a chair out from the table, June walks into the kitchen.
Anna looks around the room.

ANNA
You have a lovely home.

JUNE
This isn't my home, child. I just keep house for the Matthews, sit with their little angel when they're away. The way the Mrs. carries on with those men, I'm surprised she ain't knocked up again. Bill, her husband, let me tell you, child, he ain't no saint. All of his so-called business meetings with his hot little secretary. I swear these young folks don't have half the morals we do.

June walks into the room. She puts a glass of ice water in front of Anna.

JUNE
Would you like a little lemon, honey?

ANNA
This is fine, thanks.

Anna takes a sip.

JUNE
My daddy would tan my hide if I carried on the way she does.

June points towards the family photo.

ANNA
That's the truth. Thank you for the water.

Anna takes one last sip then stands to leave.

JUNE
You can't leave yet.

ANNA
Why not?

JUNE
The dog is probably still lurking around out there.

June glances out the window.

JUNE
I don't see him, but he could be hiding somewhere. Dogs are good for that you know.

ANNA
I'm sure he's long gone by now.

JUNE
Don't you think you should report him to the police?

Anna shows June her gray flip phone.

ANNA
I already did.

Anna walks to the door, June follows behind her.

JUNE
(Nervous)
I still don't think it's a good idea for you to go out there just yet.

Anna turns back around.

ANNA
You're probably right. Could I have another glass of water please with a little lemon this time?

JUNE
Sure thing.

Grabbing her glass, June heads to the kitchen.
Hearing the water running, Anna darts out the door.

ANNA
Come on Sparky, let's go.

Anna races down the sidewalk, stopping when she sees Summer's car pull into the drive. Anna runs to the driver's door as she's getting out.

ANNA
Good afternoon, Ma'am.

SUMMER
(Snobby)
I'm not interested in anything you're selling.

Reaching out Summer tries to push Anna away.
Anna grabs Summer's hand. She pulls her forward, then shoves the tube of lipstick against her bare arm.

SUMMER
Let go of....

Summer falls back on the seat.
The front door open, Anna scrunches down.

ANNA

I don't want to be caught standing over you like this.

A few minutes later, Anna stands up just high enough to see the maid. Seeing June on the edge of the porch she ducks back down.
Hearing people talking behind her, Anna turns around. She sees two women are just a few houses away.
Anna glances around, hoping to find a way to escape.

                                                                                          CUT TO:

INT. SUMMIT PD. - DAY
It's a small interrogation room with white walls, concrete floors. There's a small barred window at the back of the room. A one-way mirror is in the front of the room and on its right side. The only furniture is a metal table and three matching chairs. A fluorescent light is dangling from the ceiling by two old chains.
Myles is sitting in the chair furthest from the door watching Jeff pace back and forth.

JEFF
We already know you were at her residence a few minutes before she died.

Leaning across the table, Jeff gets into Myles' face.

MYLES
I was nowhere near the place.

JEFF
Then why do we have you on camera leaving the house at 8:32 AM.?

MYLES
You have me on camera?

JEFF
(Smiling)
You didn't erase the security tape as well as you thought.

MYLES
I didn't try to erase a tape.

JEFF
Well someone did.

MYLES
I swear it wasn't me.

JEFF
So you admit that you were there?

MYLES
I remember what happened now. She asked me to fix her leaky faucet when she realized I was working next door.

KEVIN
(Smirking)
Do you fix her leaky pipes often, Myles?

He winks.

MYLES
It's not like that at all. Our relationship is strictly professional.

KEVIN
(Smiling)
I'm sure it is.

MYLES
Nothing happened between us, I swear.

Kevin lays a small plastic bag on the table.

MYLES
What's that?

KEVIN
Your wedding ring. It was found on the victim's bedroom floor.

MYLES
I don't know how it got there, honest I don't.

KEVIN
I bet the semen from her bedsheets will tell us differently.

MYLES
We didn't do anything in her bed.

KEVIN
Where did you do it then, huh, lover boy?

MYLES
Nowhere.

KEVIN
Then how did your semen get on the victim?

Myles looks away.

KEVIN
Ok, then tell me this, If you two don't have anything going, why do we have you leaving her house on four separate occasions this week?

MYLES
Ok, Ok we're having an affair, but I'd never harm my beautiful Julia, she's my life, my everything, the woman of my dreams.

KEVIN
Did you know the woman of your dreams is carrying another man's baby?

MYLES
(Yelling)
That baby isn't his, it's mine and I have tests to prove it.

He slams his fist on the table.

KEVIN
You wanna know what I think happened? I think you wanted Julia to leave her husband but she wouldn't. You two got into a heated argument, you lost your temper and killed her.

MYLES
I'd never do that to her, ever. I love her damn it, I love her, and our unborn baby.

Myles starts to cry.

JEFF
If you tell us what happened, we'll make sure the DA goes lighter on you.

MYLES
I didn't do anything I swear I didn't.

JEFF
Just like you swear that you two don't have anything going?

MYLES
I lied about that, but I'm telling the truth about this.

JEFF
So tell us what happened.

MYLES
We're in the middle of a second round when her husband calls and ruins my plans. I get upset and leave. Wait, that's it.

Myles dries his face.

KEVIN
What's it?

MYLES
Her phone records will prove that she was talking to her husband when I left.

KEVIN
You better not be lying about this.

MYLES
I swear I'm not.
                                                                                           Cut TO:

EXT. WILLIAMS STREET - MIDAFTERNOON
Anna looks back and forth between the sidewalk and the front door.
June is standing on the edge of the porch looking around.
The women are still chatting away as they're getting closer to the house.
Frightened, Anna carefully works her way around the driver's door towards the front of the car.

JUNE
Who's out there?

June races to the side of the porch and starts looking around.
Crawling out of the bushes, Sparky runs up the stairs snarling.

June
Back dog, back.

Sparky inches closer to the frightened woman.
June slowly works her way around the porch to the door.
Sparky inches closer.
June opens the door and runs inside.
Sparky lunges for her as she closes the heavy wooden barrier behind her.

Turning, Sparky darts across the lawn towards the woman.
Seeing the vicious coming towards them, the two woman run screaming the other way.

Anna sees Sparky chasing them when she stands up. A police siren is sounding in the distance.

Chapter 5
Unusual Suspect

By Mistydawn

EXT. POLICE CRUISER SUMMIT NEW JERSEY - DAY
Marty and Joe are talking in their squad car as they're driving through their normal beat.

JOE (Mid 30's)
How did your poker game go last night?

MARTY (Early 20's)
I was rolling in the dough, until the end.

JOE
(Chuckles.)
What happened, bud?

MARTY
I went all in on a pair of aces.

JOE
(Surprised)
You bet all of your winnings on a single pair?

MARTY
I thought he was bluffing.

JOE
(Laughing)
Will you ever learn?

DISPATCHER
(OS)
Be advised, We have a disturbance call at 1040 Williams Street.

Marty glances at his partner.

JOE
Tell her we can be there in five.

He flips on the sirens.

EXT. WILLIAMS STREET SUMMIT NEW JERSEY - DAY.
Standing up, Anna sees Sparky chasing the women down the road. They're screaming as they run for safety. Police sirens are sounding all around her. Taking the dog whistle out of her pocket, she blows. Sparky stops and turns back around. She blows the whistle again.
Seeing the canine heading her way, Anna ducks between the fence and the garage. She follows the path to the alley. Looking back she sees Sparky right behind her. Anna notices cop cars zooming past her when she glances ahead. Peeling off her wig, and mask, Anna shoves them into her purse and then glances around again. Two more cruisers are speeding towards the house.

ANNA
(Nervous)
We've got to get out of here, quick.

She and Sparky run to her car.

Int. Summit Police Department - DAY.
You see the daily hustle and bustle of a busy police station. Some officers are dragging suspects in, while others are escorting them out. A few officers are talking to people at their desks, while others are typing up reports.
The sergeant and Jeff are sitting at their desks. Kevin walks over to them.

KEVIN
Myles' alibi checks out. Mrs. Lathen was on the phone when he left.

JEFF
I think you need to see this, Sergeant.

ELIZABETH
What is it?

Elizabeth walks over to his desk.

JEFF
I found an elderly lady running to Mrs. Lathem's door right after Myles left.

Jeff glances at a piece of paper lying on his desk, then he glances at the screen.

JEFF
She fits the description of the lady in the park perfectly.

ELIZABETH
Go back to the neighborhood, see if there are any cameras in the area, talk with the neighbors ask them if they remember something and find out if forensics can do a facial recognition of this image.

KEVIN
Yes, Sergeant.

Stepping out of his office, Jack walks to the detective's desks.

JACK
Sergeant, Detectives, we just got another call. A lady was found dead in her car over on Williams street.

ELIZABETH
Jeff and I will head over there. Kevin, you go back out to Rotary drive.

KEVIN
Yes, Sergeant.

                                                                                                                                                               CUT TO:

Ext. WILLIAMS DRIVE - DAY.
It's a nice quiet established residential area with its extravagant over-priced homes and picture-perfect lawns. The neighbors are gathering around the house trying to figure out what's going on.
The maid is waiting for them on the porch when Jeff and Elizabeth pull up.

JEFF
(Shaking his head)
The victim is an elite, just like all the others.

ELIZABETH
This is getting ridiculous.

The maid runs towards them as they climb out of the car.

JUNE
She's over here, she's over here.

June runs towards the driveway. The officers follow behind her. Glancing inside the car they see Summer Matthews lying sideways on the seat.

Elizabeth turns towards the maid.

ELIZABETH
Did you touch her, or try to move her?

JUNE
I felt for a pulse but that's all.

ELIZABETH
When did you discover her?

JUNE
A few minutes ago.

ELIZABETH
Does she have any health conditions?

JUNE
She hasn't mentioned anything to me.

JEFF
Did an elderly lady happen to visit you today?

June gives him a puzzled look.

JUNE
Yes, a vicious dog was trying to attack her so I brought her inside. She waited a few minutes then left.

ELIZABETH
Did you get a good look at the dog?

JUNE
Too good, I'll probably have nightmares tonight because of it.

ELIZABETH
Can you describe the dog for me, please?

JUNE
He was black and tan with a long pointy nose, like a German Shepard.

JEFF
Was your guest here when Mrs. Lathem pulled up?

JUNE
No, she left a few minutes before she arrived.

ELIZABETH
What did you two talk about when she was here?

JUNE
Not a lot really, I explained that I was the housekeeper and that I watch the baby when his mom is out chasing men.

ELIZABETH
Is there anything else?

JUNE
No, she only stayed for a minute, had a glass of water and left.

ELIZABETH
Can I see her glass, please?

JUNE
I already washed it.

ELIZABETH
So what happened after she came inside?

JUNE
She sat down at the table. I got her a glass of water. She drank it and left.

JEFF
Is this the lady?

Jeff shows her a picture from his phone.

JUNE
That's her, she's the one that was here. She didn't do anything wrong, did she?

ELIZABETH
We just need to ask her a few questions.

JUNE
You don't think she did this, do you?

June points to the car.

JEFF
We don't know.

Elizabeth turns towards her detective.

ELIZABETH
I'd like to get prints from the table, and chair.

JEFF
I'll let forensics know.

Jeff walks away. Elizabeth turns toward the maid.

ELIZABETH
Have you informed Mr. Lathem?

JUNE
He's on a flight back from San Fransico now.

ELIZABETH
Do either of them have any enemies, scorned lovers, exes in the picture?

JUNE
I'm sure they both have plenty, but I couldn't name any off the top of my head.

Elizabeth gives her an inquisitive look.

JUNE
They keep their personal life to themselves. (pause) I actually prefer it that way.

Mike walks towards the ladies.

MIKE
Jeff said you wanted to lift some prints?

ELIZABETH
Where was she sitting?

JUNE
I'll show you.

She leads them inside the house. June walks over to the dining room table.

JUNE
In this chair.

ELIZABETH
I want this entire area fingerprinted, and be sure to do elimination prints on the family.

Mike
Copy that, Sergeant.

                                                                                                                                                              CUT TO:

INT. ANNA'S APARTMENT - AFTERNOON
Walking through the door, Anna plops down on the couch. The dog jumps up beside her.

ANNA
That was close, Sparky.

The dog growls.

ANNA
I don't know what I would've done without you.

Sparky licks her face.

ANNA
(Laughing)
You're my only true friend, Sparks and when this is over you and me we'll go somewhere really nice, alright?

The dog licks her again.

ANNA
I'm thinking I should change my strategy a bit. Maybe get a new look, find a different way to approach them. What do you think boy?

The dog barks.

ANNA
I wish I could understand you.

The dog whines.

ANNA
(Laughing)
Exactly.

Jumping up, Anna starts pacing across the floor. Sparky follows behind her.

ANNA
How am I going to do this?

She stops in the middle of the floor.

ANNA
I know exactly what I'm going to do.

Running to the closet, she grabs a wig box off the top shelf. Removing the lid, she reaches in and pulls out a tangled brunette wig.

The dog growls.

ANNA
(Laughing)
It's just hair, see.

She brings the wig down in front of him. Sparky's fur stands on end as he backs up towards the kitchen.

ANNA
(Laughing)
Ok, ok, I'll put it up.

She puts it back in the box.

ANNA
I better get a different mask too.

                                                                                                                                                              CUT TO:

INT. SUMMIT POLICE STATION -DAY
The two detectives and the sergeant are sitting at their desk. The normal commotion continues all around them.

ELIZABETH
Did forensics come up with anything on the image?

JEFF
They were able to restore the picture, but nothing came up in the system. Not even on a statewide search. They're still hopeful about the prints.

ELIZABETH
The only similarity I can find between the victims is that they all have a reputation for being easy.

JEFF
The new victim too?

ELIZABETH
She was the worst one of all. So I'm thinking maybe the killer's husband cheated on her with these women and now she's out for revenge.

JEFF
That's possible, Sergeant.

ELIZABETH
Kevin, look into recent divorces cross reference your findings with suspicious deaths, see what you come up with. I'm going to talk to the town gossip, see if she can give me a little insight into our victims' activities.

JEFF
Are you sure you want to do that, Sergeant?

ELIZABETH
Why not?

JEFF
The way she blabbers, you'll probably be there for days.

ELIZABETH
You're right, give me an hour, then call.

JEFF
(Smirking)
What if I forget?

ELIZABETH
You'll be on desk duty for a month.

His face turns solemn.

JEFF
I won't forget, I promise.

ELIZABETH
(Mumbling under her breath.)
I thought that'd change your mind.

Smiling Elizabeth starts to walk away. Leo runs down the hall towards her.

LEO (LATE 30'S)
Wait up, Sergeant.

Elizabeth turns around.

LEO
You'll never guess what I just found out.

ELIZABETH
What, Leo, what?

LEO
The facial recognition didn't work because she's wearing a mask.

Elizabeth turns towards her detectives.

ELIZABETH
Find out who carries this particular mask.

JEFF
We're on it, Sergeant.

                                                                                                                                                           CUT TO:

932 SOUTH AVE. WESTFIELD, NEW JERSEY - DAY
Anna looks around at all of the costumes when she steps inside. Seeing a salesman at the counter she walks towards him.

ANNA
I'm looking for a mask for a costume party.

HENRY
Well, you've come to the right place. What would you like to go as?

Laying her money on the counter, Anna looks around. Henry steps up beside her.

ANNA
How about her?

Anna walks over to a mask. The salesman takes off the peg and hands it to her.

HENRY
You want to go as Harriet Truman?

ANNA
Yeah, why not?

HENRY
No reason, I guess.

He walks towards the counter as the bell above the door chimes.
Anna turns to see two officers walking into the store. She ducks behind some clothes.

ANNA
(Talking real fast)
Can I try it on first, see if I like it?

HENRY
We have a mirror on the back wall.

The salesman points to the far end of the store.
Anna sees the officers getting closer.

ANNA
Never mind.

Anna darts down the isles. Henry looks down at the wad of cash on the counter.

HENRY
Hey, you forgot your change.

Anna slips through the door before it closes.

Putting the money in the drawer, the salesman turns towards the cops.

HENRY
How may I help you, officers?

Glancing out the window, Henry sees the lady running down the street.
Kevin turns to see what he's looking at but doesn't see a thing. Shrugging, he turns back around.

JEFF
We're wondering if you sell this type of mask.

The salesman takes the picture out of Jeff's hand.

HENRY
We use to, years ago, but they weren't a hot item so we stopped carrying them.

JEFF
Is there any way you can look at your records and see who might have purchased one?

HENRY
It's going to take some time.

JEFF
We can wait.

HENRY
I'm talking a few days maybe longer. See we stopped selling these about six years ago, so I'm going to have to dig up old files from the basement.

JEFF
We'd appreciate any help you can give us.

HENRY
Leave your number and I'll call you when I find something.

                                                                                                                                                            CUT TO:

EXT. ANNA'S CAR WESTFIELD NEW JERSEY - DAY.
Anna tries to shove Sparky over as she climbs into the car. His large body doesn't budge.

ANNA
Move, Sparky, move.

Barking, the dog reluctantly moves to the passenger side. Anna fumbles with the key and then drops it on the floor.

ANNA
Oh, damn it.

Reaching down, she scoops them up. The dog growls.

ANNA
What's wrong, Sparky?

She starts to sit up when she sees two cops walking down the sidewalk. She ducks back down.

ANNA
Down, Sparky.

The dog lays on the seat.

Anna looks up to see the officers heading towards her car. She then notices the mask beside her. Pulling it to the floor, she stuffs it underneath her seat.

JEFF
I hope he's able to find something soon.

KEVIN
Me too.

Kevin checks his pocket.

JEFF
What are you looking for?

KEVIN
My cell phone. I must have dropped it in the store. I'll be right back.

Anna looks up to see the second cop walking towards her car.

ANNA
They don't know it's me, right?

Sparky whines.

Anna
They did figure out that I'm wearing a mask.

Glancing back up, she sees the cop is a couple feet away.

ANNA
What am I going to do, boy?

The dog growls.

EXT. WESTFIELD NEW JERSEY - DAY.
Anna is horrifyingly scrunched down in her car, her dog Sparky is lying beside her. The mask she recently purchased is hidden underneath the seat. Glancing up, she sees an officer walking towards her car.
Stopping a few feet from Anna's vehicle, the cop bends down and picks up a cell phone.

JEFF
(Laughing)
It must have slipped out of Kevin's pocket.

Jeff heads towards the store.
Seeing the cop step inside, Anna nervously drives away.

JEFF
Hey buddy, I found your phone.

Jeff lifts the device into the air.

KEVIN
(Laughing)
I wouldn't have a dinosaur phone like that. Hell, it's probably older than I am.

HENRY
it belongs to my last customer, I remember her holding it.

JEFF
Can I get her name from the credit card receipt, so I can return it to her?

HENRY
She paid cash.

KEVIN
Maybe one of her contacts can tell you who it belongs to.

JEFF
Good thinking, Kev.

Opening the phone, Jeff hits the contact button.

JEFF
It's empty, and so is her call log.

KEVIN
How about incoming calls?

JEFF
She received one a few minutes ago.

Hitting the callback button, Jeff waits for it to connect.

JEFF
(Filtered)
Who is this again? You're asking for donations? I see. Well, my name is Jeff Howard I'm with the Summit PD. I just found this phone lying on the sidewalk and I'm trying to figure out who it belongs to. Can you tell me what name you have listed for this number? I see, well, thank you for your time.

Jeff hangs up the phone.

KEVIN
What did they say?

JEFF
He said the company gives them a list of numbers with no names.

KEVIN
Maybe forensics can match a fingerprint from the phone.

JEFF
Maybe, did you ever find your cell?

KEVIN
(Laughing)
It was in my other pocket the whole time.

INT. ANNA'S BATHROOM SUMMITT NEW JERSEY.

Putting on the mask, Anna looks at her reflection in the mirror.

ANNA
Oh, this won't do, Sparky, it won't do at all. I'd have to wear a scarf, gloves and long pants for it to even look halfway legit. What was I thinking buying a black mask anyhow? I know what I was thinking I have to get out of there quick.

Throwing the mask on the floor, she plops down on the toilet.

Anna
Now, what am I going to do?

Barking, Sparky runs into the other room. He has her old mask hanging out of his mouth when he trots back in the bathroom. Walking towards her, he plops down by her feet.

ANNA
I almost got caught wearing this, Sparky.

Dropping the mask, he puts his front paws on her leg. Rising up, he tugs at the wig.

ANNA
What are you trying to tell me, boy?

Whining, he tugs at the wig again.

ANNA
What about the wig?

Getting down, Sparky pushes the mask towards her.

ANNA
That would work, wouldn't it, boy?

The dog barks.

                                                                                                                                  CUT TO:

INT SUMMIT POLICE STATION - DAY
Jeff and Kevin see the Sergeant at her desk when they walk into the station.

ELIZABETH
Did you find anything, guys?

JEFF
Only one store carried the mask, six years ago. He said it'll take some time to look through his records and that he'll let us know if he finds anything.

ELIZABETH
Have you re-canvassed the neighborhoods yet?

JEFF
We're heading that way now.

EXT TANGLEWOOD DRIVE SUMMIT NEW JERSEY - DAY
Anna is walking down the sidewalk in her improvised get up, stopping at the edge of a yard. Glancing up, she sees a beautiful light blue Victorian in front of her.

Anna
Damn rich people think they rule the world. Well, I'm going to show them they don't.

Rehearing her speech one last time, she walks towards the house. Anna hears heavy moaning coming from inside when she gets to the door.

Anna
So much for that Idea.

                                                                                                                                    CUT TO:

INT. LIGHT BLUE VICTORIAN TANGLEWOOD DRIVE SUMMIT NEW JERSEY.
Barry and Jackie have just finished a passionate round of lovemaking. Sweaty and exhausted, Barry rolls off her.

BARRY
What did you think of that?

JACKIE
(Starry-eyed)
It was wonderful as always.

Barry rolls on his side.

BARRY
Are you ready to go another round?

He runs his hand down her hot sweaty body.
Jackie licks her dry lips.

JACKIE
I could use a drink first.

BARRY
What would you like, my love?

JACKIE
How about some wine?

BARRY
(Laughing)
I'll be right back.

                                                                                                                                   CUT TO:

Ext. Tanglewood Drive Summit New Jersey - Day
Anna starts to leave when Sparky runs towards her.

ANNA
How did you get out?

The dog barks.

ANNA
Well, I'm not going to do anything at this house anyhow, not when she has company.

Anna is walking down the sidewalk when a thought occurs to her. Stopping, she turns around.

ANNA
I could get them both. God knows he needs to pay for his indiscretions as much as she does. No, it's too risky, right, Sparky?

The dog growls. Pivoting, she continues down the sidewalk.

ANNA
That would change things up a bit, throw the cops for a loop. Yeah, why not.

Spinning around, Anna walks towards the house.

ANNA
Here I go.

Anna knocks on the door. The house grows quiet. She bangs on the barrier again. She hears footsteps heading towards the door. Anna pounds again.

BARRY
I'm coming, I'm coming.

A half-naked man throws the door open. Anna is so taken by his fine physique she can't say a word.

BARRY
(Aggravated)
Well, what is it?

ANNA
I .... I'm with the national census bureau and I need to ask you a few questions, please?

BARRY
Can you come back later, my honey and I are kind of busy, if you know what I mean.

He winks.

ANNA
This will only take a minute, Sir.

Seeing him hesitate she quickly adds.

ANNA
Please, Sir, I get paid according to the number of houses I visit and I really could use the money.

BARRY
Ok, what is it?

ANNA
Could I speak to the missus of the house too, please?

Barry turns towards the back of the house.

BARRY
(Yelling)
She wants to talk to you too, Jackie.

JACKIE
(OS)
Who is it, Barry?

BARRY
It's some lady with the National Census.

JACKIE
(OS, laughing)
Tell her to come back later, when I'm less exposed.

ANNA
(Yelling)
It'll just take a minute, Ma'am.

BARRY
I'll make it up to you, I promise.

JACKIE
(OS)
You promise, Barry baby?

BARRY
I'll have you screaming so loud they'll hear you in New York.

JACKIE
(OS)
Well, if she really wants to do this she'll have to come to me since I'm kind of tied up at the moment.

BARRY
(Sheepishly grins)
She likes to get kinky, follow me.

Jackie is lying naked on the bed her ankles and wrist are strapped to the frame. Sitting down beside her, Barry starts fondling her breasts.

BARRY
You make me so hot just looking at you.

JACKIE
Oh, Barry, you always know the right things to say.

Bending down he kisses her.
Seeing their attention is on each other, Anna holds the lipstick container against Barry's arm. He collapses on top of Jackie.

JACKIE
(Panicked)
Barry, honey, wake up, please baby, wake up.

Jackie glances up at Anna, a frightened look on her face.

JACKIE
Do something.

Smiling, Anna walks towards her.

ANNA
Oh, I will.

Anna holds the lipstick holder against her leg.
Jackie tries to move her extremity.  Anna holds it down.

JACKIE
Let go of...

Jackie's head falls sideways.
Grabbing Barry's legs, Anna positions them on the bed.

ANNA
That was too easy.

Smiling she walks out of the bedroom.

                                                                                                                                    CUT TO:

SUMMIT POLICE STATION- MID-AFTERNOON.
Elizabeth is searching through a list of names when Kevin and Jeff walk through the door. The squad room is packed full of people busily scurrying around.

ELIZABETH
Did you find anything?

JEFF
Two women said they remember seeing an older lady standing by her car when they walked by.

KEVIN
Their description fits the lady in the park to a T.

ELIZABETH
Did they tell you anything else?

JEFF
Nothing that's helpful. I did pull the footage from the area hoping I could get the make and model of her car.

ELIZABETH
That's something I guess. I've been working on the list and it looks like only one guy had something going with all of these women, Brad Cambell.

JEFF
He's been dead for almost a year.

Elizabeth
Right, but if you remember, his murder was never solved.

Confused, Kevin scratches his head.

KEVIN
I thought the mistress did it.

ELIZABETH
We all did until the evidence proved otherwise.

KEVIN
Maybe Breanna is killing these women because one of them killed Brad.

ELIZABETH
She'd have to do it from her grave.

KEVIN
She's dead?

ELIZABETH
Another inmate killed her minutes before her release, claiming Breanna stole Brad from her.

JEFF
So maybe whoever murdered Brad, are killing these woman too?

ELIZABETH
That's possible, Jeff.

KEVIN
What happened to Brad's wife?

ELIZABETH
Anna disappeared months before Brad was killed.

Kevin
Do you think whoever killed Brad murdered Anna too?

ELIZABETH
No, we think Brad killed Anna.

KEVIN
Why is that, Sergeant?

ELIZABETH
The evidence at their house shows that Brad kept her tied up in their basement for an extended length of time. So we're assuming he killed Anna then dumped her body.

KEVIN
So maybe whoever killed him and all of these women are doing it to avenge Anna's death.

ELIZABETH
That would make sense. You look into Anna's friends and I'll look into her family, see what we can find.

KEVIN
Copy that Sergeant.

JEFF
I'll call the costume shop see if they've found anything yet.

They're busy working when Kurt walks over to their desk.

KURT
I finished all the fingerprints we found on the park bench.

ELIZABETH
Did you find anything useful?

He hands her the extensive list. Elizabeth skims through it.

ELIZABETH
I'll run these through the databank, see if any of them have priors.

KURT
I already did. A few have traffic tickets but other than that their records are clean. There is one result I find a bit odd.

He points to the bottom of the page.

KURT (cont)
Anna Cambell was reported missing nearly a year ago.

ELIZABETH
Anna Cambell, that's Brad's wife.

JEFF
How would her prints end up on the park bench if she's dead?

ELIZABETH
They wouldn't. Where were her fingerprints found?

Kurt glances at his notes.

KURT
A few inches from the victim's body.

ELIZABETH
I want you to rerun the print, make sure it's right. Jeff, check her social security number, drivers license, city utilities, banks anything that'll prove she's still alive.

JEFF
Yes, Sergeant.

Hanging up the phone, Kevin turns towards the Sergeant.

KEVIN
This will help our investigation.

ELIZABETH
What is it, Kevin?

KEVIN
It's the make, model and license number of a car leaving Williams Street minutes after the victim died.

He types something into his computer.

KEVIN
Her name is Trisha Morgan. I have her last known address right here.

Scribbling the information on a piece of paper, he hands it to the Sergeant.

ELIZABETH
I'll get a warrant, you two head on over.

JEFF
Yes, Sergeant.

                                                                                                                                    CUT TO:

INT. TANGLEWOOD DRIVE SUMMIT NEW JERSEY - DAY
Finished with her work, Anna runs to the back of the house.
Mike steps out of the shadows.

MIKE
Where do you think you're going?

ANNA
(stuttering)
I...I've got to get out of here.

She tries to run past him, he pushes her back.

MIKE
Oh no, you're not going anywhere, Missy.

Anna pulls a lipstick out of her pocket.

ANNA
Get back or I'll kill you.

Mike
(Laughing)
With your lipstick?

ANNA
The container holds poisonous darts that will kill you in an instant.

MIKE
So that's how you're doing it.

ANNA
You better get back before I hit this button.

She lunges towards him, Mike steps back

MIKE
I have news for you, Missy. I'm with the Summit PD and you're under arrest.

ANNA
Like hell I am.

Pushing past him, she runs for the door.

Anna's Capture

By Mistydawn

TANGLEWOOD DRIVE SUMMIT NEW JERSEY - DAY.
Anna and Mike are downstairs of the two-story light blue Victorian home. Mike just threatened to arrest her for murder. Frightened, Anna runs for the door. Grabbing his taser, Mike pulls the trigger. Anna seizes to the floor.

MIKE
(Laughing)
You didn't get too far, now did you?

He walks towards her.

ANNA
Leave me alone.

She tries kicking him, he dodges out of the way.

MIKE
Do you want this again?

ANNA
No.

MIKE
Then you better behave.

Carefully taking the lipstick container out of her hand, Mike inspects it.

MIKE
This is a nice little weapon you have here.

Reaching down he pulls off her wig.

MIKE
Nice disguise too.

ANNA
Give that back.

He tosses it on his head.

MIKE
I bet you're wearing a mask too, right?

ANNA
Leave it alone.

Anna slaps his hand.
Jerking the cover off her face, Mike puts it on.

MIKE
You've got a pretty good thing going with this getup, don't you?

ANNA
I .... I guess so.

Anna carefully reaches into her pocket.

MIKE
The cops are completely baffled with the old lady disguise. Using poisonous darts to kill those women is ingenious. Let me see now there's Mrs. Mongomery, Hanna Freeman, Mrs. Lowery, Summer Matthews, Barry Jones and Jackie King.

Mike scratches his head.

MIKE
I think that's all of them, right?

Anna nods.

MIKE
Why are you do it for anyway, huh?

ANNA
I'm making sure all of my husband's tramps won't hurt others the way they've hurt me.

MIKE
(Smiling)
It feels good to get rid of all those sleazy women, doesn't it?

ANNA
I feel like I'm doing the world a service.

MIKE
(Grinning)
With them out of the way, married couples can stay faithful and STD's will be a thing of the past.

Anna nods again.

MIKE
Is that the reason you killed Brad because he was unfaithful?

Anna gets a terrified look on her face.

MIKE
(Chuckling)
I'm right, aren't I?

ANNA
How do you know Brad is, was my husband?

MIKE
I know a lot of things about you. I even know you're renting a place under the name of Trisha Morgan over on Oak Street and that you drive a green Escort New Jersey plates LXZ4312.

Anna's mouth drops open.

MIKE
(Smiling)
I'll keep all of this information to myself if you do me a huge favor?

Anna eyes him suspiciously.

ANNA
What's that?

MIKE
Take care of my wife and her lover the way you did the others.

ANNA
If I refuse?

MIKE
I'll tell my cop buddies everything I know.

Anna looks away.

MIKE
So, are you going to do me this huge solid, or do I turn you in? Just to let you know, I've recorded our entire confession.

He shows her his phone. Anna sighs.

MIKE
So you in or what?

ANNA
What choice do I have?

                                                                                                                                   CUT TO:

ANNA'S APARTMENT SUMMIT NEW JERSEY - DAY.
Jeff is standing on one side of the door, Kevin on the other.

JEFF
Ready?

Kevin nods.
Jeff pounds on the door.

JEFF
Summit PD, open up.

He waits a minute then pounds again.

JEFF
Summit PD, we're coming in.

He kicks the door, The barrier flies open. The two detectives run into the apartment. The word clear
sounds throughout as they check the rooms.
A few minutes later, the officers meet in the front room.

KEVIN
She's not home.

JEFF
Go ahead and start tossing the place, I'll call the Sergeant and tell her what's going on.

Taking the phone out of his pocket he dials the station.

JEFF
(Filtered)
Sergeant, this is Jeff, she isn't home. We are, I'll have uniforms canvas the neighborhood. Yes, Sergeant, you'll be the first to know.

KEVIN
What did she say?

JEFF
Search the apartment and talk to the neighbors, see if they can tell us anything.

KEVIN
I'll tell the unis.

He walks out the door. Jeff looks through the apartment.

                                                                                                                                   CUT TO:

INT. MIKE'S CAR ON WILLIAMS STREET SUMMIT NEW JERSEY - DAY.
Mike pulls into his driveway, Anna is anxiously sitting beside him.
Mike glances down the road. Angry, he slams his hand against the steering wheel.

MIKE
(Through gritted teeth.)
Just like I thought.

ANNA
What?

MIKE
She and that bastard are getting it on again.

He glances towards the black Ford parked a few houses down.

ANNA
I hate to tell you this, but he's not the only one your wife has been sleeping with.

MIKE
How do you know that?

ANNA
I've been watching her for weeks.

Seeing the inquisitive look on his face she continues.

ANNA
She's one of Brad's tramps too.

MIKE
How do I know you're not lying to me to get even or to make me mad.

ANNA
I have proof on my phone.

She pulls a phone out of her pocket. Clicking on the picture icon she hands it over.

MIKE
That looks like my wife's phone.

Anna snatches it back.

ANNA
I may be a lot of things, but I'm not a damn thief.

MIKE
I wasn't implying that you are.

She looks at him crossly.

Mike
What did you want to show me?

ANNA
Take a look at these.

She hands the phone back.
Mike scans the pictures. The more he sees the madder he becomes.

MIKE
Well, this is the last time any of those sons of bitches get a piece of my wife's ass.

Reaching over, he pulls his Glock out of the glove compartment then he grabs a box of shells.

ANNA
Use my dart gun instead, so you won't leave evidence behind.

Pulling it out of his pocket, Mike looks at her suspiciously.

MIKE
Why are you being so helpful to me all of a sudden?

ANNA
I want to take care of your wife and lover as bad as you do.

She holds up her phone. He sees a picture of Brad and Lisa walking into a motel room.

MIKE
I bet you have photos of half the men in the city on your phone.

ANNA
Women too. You're going to need these.

She hands him a box of poisonous darts.

Mike
You've had these the whole time?

Anna
Yeah, but they're useless without the gun.

MIKE
Lucky for me.

Grabbing a handful, he stuffs them in his pocket.

MIKE
 Let's go.

Mike pushes her towards the porch, stopping at the front door.

MIKE
How do you work this thing, anyhow?

He carefully moves the device around in his hand.

ANNA
You take off the safety then push this black button on the back.

She points to each as she explains.

MIKE
Got it.

Opening the door the two step inside. They hear a lot of moaning as they slowly climb the stairs. They creep along the hallway, stopping at the first door. Mike peeks his head in the room. He sees lover boy on top, his wife tied to the bed. Grabbing handcuffs from his gear belt, he turns towards Anna.

MIKE
In case you're thinking about trying something foolish.

He secures her to the banister.

ANNA
Hey.

Mike
(Whispering)
It's either that or this?

He shows her the dart gun. Anna plops down on the floor.

Running into the room, Mike jumps on the lover's back. They collapse on top of Mike's wife. Lori screams hysterically.
Loverboy struggles to get up. Feeling his body shift, Mike wraps one arm around the guy's neck as he pushes the dart gun against him.

MIKE
This is for screwing my wife.

Mike pushes the button. Jerry collapses back on the bed. Standing up, Mike pushes Jerry off his wife.

MIKE
He won't be coming back for more.

Lori glances over at Jerry then at Mike.

LORI
What .... what did you do to him?

MIKE
The same thing I'm going to do to you.

LORI
(Begging)
No, please don't hurt me, please.

MIKE
How long have you been sleeping around, huh?

He slaps her face. Lori looks up at him, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Reaching up, he squeezes her boobs.

MIKE
Those high priced babies are for my enjoyment, not for every dick in town.

LORI
(Crying)
Stop, your hurting me.

MIKE
I'm going to do a hell of a lot more than that, you worthless tramp.

Raising up his hand, he slaps her again.

LORI
Please don't hurt me, Mike, I'm sorry, I'll never do it again.

MIKE
I've heard that before.

He starts punching her. Blood is splattering out of her nose and running down the side of her face.

LORI
(Tearfully begging)
Please, Mike, stop, for the sake of our baby.

He rubs her small baby bump, then he punches her in the stomach. She screams out in pain.

MIKE
I bet that bastard isn't even mine.

He punches her stomach again.

LORI
(Bawling)
Of course, it is.

MIKE
Liar.

He swings a right hook. Her head jerks sideways, everything becomes fuzzy, distant.

MIKE
I'm going to make sure you never cheat on me again.

Grabbing the lipstick, he holds it against her breast.

MIKE
Rot in hell, you wench.

He pushes the button.

ANNA
(OS)
Do you feel better, now?

Mike glances down at his wife.

MIKE
(Sorrowful)
She was a hot little mama, sure knew how to rock my world.

Rubbing his hardness, he walks towards Anna.

MIKE
I bet your body is just as hot as hers.

Smiling, he uncuffs her.

ANNA
Mine, no it's all fat and wrinkles.

She backs away.

MIKE
You definitely have more ass than she does.

He playfully squeezes her butt.

MIKE
Why don't you let me see what else you're hiding under the granny clothes?

ANNA
(Frightened)
Here?

Anna points to the two dead bodies in the other room.

MIKE
Yeah, here.

ANNA
But I.....

MIKE
Do it or else.

He shows her his phone.

INT.  1040 WILLIAMS DRIVE SUMMIT NEW JERSEY - MID-AFTERNOON

ANNA
Go ahead and go to the cops. When they arrest me I'll tell them you killed your wife and her lover.

MIKE
I'll just say that you did it and that you're trying to put the blame on me. You, being a fugitive and me a decorated cop, who do you think they'll believe?

                                                                                                                                                              CUT TO:

INT. ANNA'S APARTMENT SUMMIT NEW JERSEY - MID AFTERNOON.
The officers are searching the apartment.

LEO (Black hair, brown eyes, late 30's)
I think you need to see this, Detective.

JEFF
Where's Mike?

Jeff glances around.

LEO
He left for lunch and never returned.

JEFF
Did you call him?

LEO
His phone goes straight to voicemail.

JEFF
That's not like him.

LEO
That's what I thought too.

JEFF
What did you want to show me?

Kevin joins them.
Jeff holds up a wig and a black mask.

JEFF
That's the right hair, but the wrong mask.

LEO
The fingerprints in the apartment come back to an Anna Campbell.

KEVIN
Isn't she assumed dead?

JEFF
Maybe she really did kill Brad, like the mistress claimed.

KEVIN
That would explain a lot. We better call the sergeant and tell her what's going on.

                                                                                                                                                             CUT TO:

MIKE'S HOUSE WILLIAMS STREET - MID-AFTERNOON.
Anna is lying naked on the floor, trying to catch her breath. Mike is beside her a smile on his face.

ANNA
Are you happy now?

MIKE
There's plenty more where that came from, doll face.

Rolling towards her, he moves his hand down her body.

ANNA
I think we should get out of here.

Anna points to the other room.

MIKE
You're right, let's take it to the shower.

Getting to his feet he scoops her into his arms.
Anna yelps.

MIKE
(Smiling)
You're in for one heck of a treat, now.

                                                                                                                                                               CUT TO:

INT. ANNA'S APARTMENT - EARLY EVENING.
The forensic team is packing up their equipment.

LEO
We've done all we can, Detectives.

Jeff glances around the room.

JEFF
Mike still hasn't returned?

LEO
No, and his phone still goes to voicemail.

JEFF
I think I'll swing by his house, see if he's ok.

LEO
Let me know what you find out.

JEFF
I will.

Kevin walks towards them.

KEVIN
That was the captain, there's been another murder over on Tanglewood Drive.

LEO
I guess you're stuck with me a little longer.

JEFF
I don't mind.

Leo gets a shocked look on his face. Jeff laughs.

JEFF
You're like an ugly mutt, you grow on a person after awhile.

LEO
(Confused.)
Thanks, I think?

Laughing, Jeff walks away. Kevin walks beside him.

JEFF
I love messing with the newbies.

KEVIN
No wonder they think you're such a hard ass.

JEFF
Me, a hard ass? who said that?

KEVIN
Just about everyone on the team.

He waves his hand across the room.

JEFF
You don't think that, do you?

Shrugging, Kevin walks through the door.

JEFF
What's that supposed to mean? Hey Kev, wait up.

KEVIN
(Mumbles.)
Two can play your game.

Smiling, Kevin continues to the car.

                                                                                                                                                               CUT TO:

MIKE'S HOUSE WILLIAMS STREET LATE-AFTERNOON.
The bathroom is steamy. Mike and Anna dry themselves off.

MIKE
I bet you've never had anything like that before, right, doll face?

Reaching over he pinches her butt.

ANNA
We need to get out of here before we get caught.

MIKE
Who's going to catch us, the husband, oh wait, that's me.

Mike chuckles.

ANNA
I'm being serious, Mike.

MIKE
I am too, I'm seriously in love with your body.

He starts fondling her breasts. She pushes his hand away.

ANNA
Someone might see your car.

MIKE
It's Lisa's car, not mine. My clunker is in the shop.

He starts groping her.

ANNA
Your wife lying dead in the other room is really grossing me out.

MIKE
We'll take the party downstairs.

Picking her up, he carries her through the door.

ANNA
No, stop, we have to get out of here.

She grabs a hold of the door jam, he pushes them through.

MIKE
Don't you understand what you've done, Anna?

ANNA
I helped you kill your wife and her lover but...

MIKE
You've done a lot more than that. You've given me a purpose, a reason to live again.

ANNA
We'll be living in prison if we don't get out of here.

MIKE
I feel like a horny teenager, love-struck over his girl.

ANNA
Well, you're not a teenager, and I'm not your girl.

He tosses her on the floor.

MIKE
It's best if you remember who's calling the shots around here.

Raising his hand, he punches her in the face.

                                                                                                                                                             CUT TO:

INT. TANGLEWOOD DRIVE SUMMIT NEW JERSEY - EARLY -EVENING.
Jeff and Kevin pull up to see their team talking on the corner of the lawn.

KEVIN
They can't be done already, can they?

JEFF
I'm not sure.

Climbing out of the car, the detectives walk over to the group.

JEFF
What's going on, guys?

KURT
We're done, Sir.

JEFF
How could you possibly be done?

KURT
It's an easy case. The husband walks in and finds his wife in bed with another man. He shoots them both and then kills himself.

KEVIN
The evidence collaborates your theory?

KURT
Right down to the spent shells and the gunpowder residue on the husband's hand.

JEFF
(Snobbish)
I'd like to see this open and shut case for myself if you don't mind.

Jeff storms across the lawn.

KEVIN
(Whispers)
He's a hard ass you know.

The group nods their head in agreement. Keven runs across the lawn.

KEVIN
Hey, Jeff, wait up.

Stopping, Jeff spins back around.

KEVIN
Don't you think you were being a little rough back there?

JEFF
I don't like them thinking they can do my job.

KEVIN
Alight, alright, chill.

Getting into Kevin's face, Jeff pokes his partner's chest.

JEFF
Don't ever tell me to chill, got that?

Throwing his hands in the air, Kevin backs away.

KEVIN
Ok, ok, I'm sorry.

JEFF
I've worked in this department for a long ass time and I'll be damned if some snotty-nosed teen tries to do my job, or some rookie tells me to chill.

Turning back around, Jeff storms into the house. Kevin runs to catch up.
Jeff checks the door jam.

JEFF
There's no sign of forced entry or a struggle.

He follows the string of clothes to the bedroom.

KEVIN
(Chuckling)
Someone was sure in a hurry.

Jeff turns towards Kevin a stern look on his face. Kevin backs away. Turning around, Jeff walks to the bedroom. Kevin hesitantly follows.

JEFF
Let's say he comes in sees his wife and this guy doing it. He pulls out his gun and shoots.

Jeff is going through the motions as he replays the scene.

JEFF
Hearing gunfire, she looks up and sees her husband standing over them with a gun.

KEVIN
Yeah?

JEFF
Wouldn't she try and get away?

KEVIN
Maybe she couldn't.

JEFF
Look how his body is laying half off her. Her legs are almost closed and her arms are positioned oddly at her side.

KEVIN
It looks like it's been staged.

JEFF
Exactly, let's get forensics back in here and take a second look.

KEVIN
I'll let them know.

Leo walks towards them.

LEO
Since you don't need another body standing around, I'm going to check on Mike, If that's ok with you, Sir?

JEFF
Let me know what you find out.

LEO
I will.
                                                                                                                                                             CUT TO:

SUMMIT POLICE STATION- EARLY EVENING
Elizabeth is working at her desk, trying to figure out the next possible victim. Commotion continues all around her. The captain walks over to her desk.

JACK
Did you find anything, Sergeant?

Elizabeth looks up.

ELIZABETH
According to the town gossip, everyone that Brad has ever slept with is dead.

JACK
Maybe they'll find something in her apartment.

ELIZABETH
I hope so. I've alerted all public transportation to be on the lookout for Anna with and without her mask and I have an APB on her car. Do you think we should set up roadblocks in case she tries to flee?

JACK
I've already taken care of it.

Elizabeth reaches for the phone.

ELIZABETH
(Filtered.)
Sergeant Bower. Have Marty and Joe sit on the car until I get there.

Hanging up, she glances at the captain.

ELIZABETH
That was dispatch, a couple of unis spotted Anna's car on Tanglewood Drive.

JACK
I'll call the detectives, let them know she's still in the area.

                                                                                                                                                              CUT TO:

INT. MIKE'S HOUSE, WILLIAMS STREET - EARLY EVENING.
Anna is lying naked on the dining room table, tears rolling down her cheeks. Her body is swollen and bruised from where he beat her. Mike is enjoying himself, oblivious to her lack of interaction.

POUNDING ON THE FRONT DOOR.

ANNA
I think someone's here.

MIKE
(Whispers)
If we ignore them they'll go away.

POUNDING AGAIN.

ANNA
I don't think so.

LEO
(OS)
Mike, it's me, Leo, let me in.

He bangs on the door again. Anna looks out the window.

ANNA
(Panicked)
The cops are here.

MIKE
It's just my buddy Leo, it'll be alright.

LEO
Open this door or I'm busting it down.

ANNA
What are we going to do?

MIKE
I'll take care of it.

Scooping the tablecloth off the floor he drapes it around his middle. Grabbing his handcuffs, he secures her wrist to the furniture leg.

MIKE
You'll keep quiet if you know whats good for you.

He walks towards the door.

MIKE
(OS)
Hey, Leo buddy, whatcha doing here?

LEO
I came to check on you.

He glances down at the tablecloth.

LEO
(Smirking)
I see that you're alright.

MIKE
I'm sorry I didn't tell anyone where I was going, but my wife is ovulating so I had to rush right home. You know, hit the baby factory when it's open for business.

He winks

LEO
I didn't know you and the Mrs. are trying to get pregnant.

MIKE
We've been trying for over a year.

Anna is shivering on top of the table. Glancing up she sees Mike's phone lying on the floor. Climbing off the table she slides the restraint down the leg. Lifting it up with her free hand she slides the restain between the furniture and the floor. Grabbing the phone and her clothes, she runs out the back door. When she's a safe distance from the house she dials 911.

ANNA
(Panicked, filtered.)
I just heard a lady screaming for help at 1040 Williams Drive. Yes, that's right.

Anna screams.

ANNA
Oh my god no, stop, don't hurt her, please don't hurt her.

Anna pretends to cry.

Anna
(Filtered)
He hit her over the head when she tried to escape. Tell them to hurry.

Smiling, she hangs up the phone.

Anna
No one treats me like that and gets away with it, not anymore.

Walking over she drops the phone in the lake.

ANNA
New town, new victims.

She laughs like she's lost her mind.
