"A Soldier of Christ"

Prologue
Two Kingdoms

By Bicpen

A Prince roams the earth inviting the condemned,
his power is hypnotizing, just submit to him and all
will be well.  In his company you will find a strange delusion
revealed, that you are free, the world is at your beckoning call.

His seat of power is a place of wrath, he is
cruel at the very least. His messengers veiled angels
of light, surely that shows the darkness on which he rides.  His
custom is to give the heart's desire, sin and all it's worth;
he would willingly give a life for his cause, that
is why he seeks the lost.  Evil is a word that he
personifies, Hell is the place where this dark prince resides.

A King came to earth not condemned for he was
just. His power is one of mercy and righteousness.
In his company the heart rejoices, his love is
that weapon that breaks the chains of the devil's grip.

His Kingdom is one of the purest lights his knowledge is
truth. His life he gave for the liberty that presides,
his blood cleanses from a fallen race.  In his truth
man can stand against this evil prince, until in
Heaven he will know that blessed rest. When he comes
you will have peace forged in eternity, brought to
a place where we receive of that blessed Christ.

Therefore, the Kingdoms are at war. Many a soul knows this
spiritual truth. The warfare of the Prince is all that is
in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life; against it stands … “The Soldier of Christ.”

The King has called him to fight these great weapons
of destruction, by the word of truth, by the power of God;
by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on
the left. As the war rages you might find yourself wounded,
by God's grace I pray you will survive. In comfort I
remember the one that was spoken by Esaias the prophet;
saying, himself took our infirmities and bare our sickness.

Remember also that the Spirit likewise also helpeth
our infirmities, “… for we know not what we should pray for
as we ought: But the Spirit itself maketh intercession
for us with groaning's, which cannot be uttered.”

Author Notes ... this was the beginning of my poetic journey.

Chapter 1
The Devil`s Question

By Bicpen

Essence of gold or putrid sin
where does the soul begin
Coarse is the heart made of clay
venom the soul displays
Autonomy is my command
vile body serves the man

~.~

Destiny guides life within its bones
blood and flesh devour
Fervent mass of God`s right hand
fell within the hour

~.~

Hell awaits the important gaze
of pride and might
Flames curtail the challenge strong
of a will in flight

~.~

Autonomy is all but lost
but does man know the cost
Coarse is the heart within the game
the soul now burns with shame
Essence of gold or putrid sin
where does the soul begin

Author Notes The reality of heaven and hell within the soul.
I believe it a false idea and concept that goodness is resident in the soul at birth.

(Reformed Christian belief)

Chapter 2
Faith

By Bicpen

Father above, a Father of love
Always to his children;
Initiated reconciliation begins with him,
To those who accept and believe
His Son Jesus Christ's testimony.

Chapter 3
Joy of God

By Bicpen

Joy of love; joy of Christ, make a man new,
A joy of God; sweetest joy from above.
Turn us from unrighteous deeds; sinners hue,
Pull from deep miry clay bought with Christ's dove.

~.~

Joy of love; joy of salvation, heart's song,
Touching Heaven's realm witnessing on earth.
Bring Shepherd's glory to lost sheep, who long,
Joy of God; mingled with sadness and mirth.

~.~

Joy of love; joy of faith, make me to live,
I pray garment's cover with joy of God.
A ransom he paid, why else did Christ give;
Sinners now saints are angels praises laud.

~.~

Will you not come, will you not come and see;
Will you not hear my Saviour's voice and plea.

Author Notes The call is to come and when you meet with what is on offer, how could you refuse...?

Chapter 6

Chapter 7
Mercy

By Bicpen

Here is mercy; my God loved me;
What was I to whom he should stoop?
Why with faith chose he me to see;
Where was light through darkness, sin's root.

~.~

Here is mercy; my God loved me;
Child of condemnation, his wrath.
A captive liberated he,
No comfort but in him at last.

~.~

Here is mercy; my God loved me;
Beloved Son, my  beloved Christ be.

Author Notes Inspiration comes from my thoughts on my conversion experience.

Chapter 8
Sun, wind, moon and stars.

By Bicpen

I see a great orb, a sun, reflecting;
Radiating warmth; light embraces earth.
I do not know how he runs, keeping time,
Circumferencing day, his golden band?

~.~

I see effects, wind`s power fierce or calm;
Gales and storm, strong demands on shallow roots.
I do not know where she begins or ends,
Listing in time; how she blows through the air?

~.~

I see dimly lit a moon ruling night,
She guides the tide, night sky's adorning light.
I do not know her secret, dark or bright;
Governed, fashioned, as a dreamer's delight?

~.~

I see planet stars, each a guiding sight,
Sometimes they flash across Orion's great belt.
I do not know reasons, how near or far;
Systems, speed or names; all are equations?

~.~

I see, yet I do not know; my faith speaks,
Beholds each will survive and rise again!
Yet, faith talks to him who commands their will;
A small universe great: I know my place!

" ... Faith is the substance of things hoped for
The evidence of things not seen ... "

Author Notes Written in Pentametre except for the hanging line at the end...no specific rhyme scheme.

Chapter 9
Faith Train

By Bicpen

Pulling and pulling the heavy load, rising
Towards the sun, bringing that grace and strength
To carry on.  Looking out against the
Weary soul the faith train still trundles on.
Pulling and pulling the heavy load; hear the
Great engine cry to the Lord.  The rails are
Straight no winding road.  The faith train waits the
The trumpet call.  The faith train trundles on.

~.~

The station is far from sight, the conductor
Is always right.  Checking for the ticket
Of a blood now unseen, cleansed and bright the
Carriage awaits; for you and me tonight.

“... The faith train still trundles on ...”

Author Notes I like to think that faith is always there for me and quiet and gentle as it seems it can be strong and visible when called for.

Chapter 10
A Thought

By Bicpen

Unclean and filthy here am I,
Seven times wash, ten came
One returned, the beautiful gate
Gracefully earned its name.

Concerned not for the cups outside,
With sinners sat unclean,
Bright snow a hallowed gleam, such, he
Purifies and redeems.

For evil thought, just power enough
To stain that mortal frame;
For thought of good, his love abide,
Form in the Saviours name.

His throne atoning blood, unclean
Sin my inner man thought;
My life mends he its wasted days,
Those thoughts forgiveness brought.

Your life in which condemns low heart;
Heavy millstone grinds lean,
Just ask in prayer; make it new,
For our Christ’s blood is clean.

Author Notes Just a thought.

Chapter 11
Heaven

By Bicpen

Hope invigorated, realised;
Incorporated with sight of the eyes,
Just as one with single vision;
Keeps the saints within their
Safe haven.

Chapter 12
Believing...!

By Bicpen

I believe, because Holy writ says;
Jesus Christ sinners saved;
King of souls, Son of Righteousness, pleads you
Leave your unbelief at Calvary's cross;
Regeneration brings new life.

Chapter 13
Promised Land

By Bicpen

A land is promised us the free and brave,
No longer under death's tight grip; a slave.

His glory shall empower all my soul;
On earth, we, half the story never told.

Before the great one's throne enduring love
Will lift all praise above, and never enough.

Again, and once again, as truth by faith
Revealed, as sight gives place the Saviours face.

No more a sorrowed heart or weary work;
The toil now over, glory will assert.

It's promised to all that call the blessed his;
All Father's love revealed, eternal bliss.

Author Notes PONTOUM ... example (RACECAR) it's the same word when read backwards ... for a poem PONTOUM it basically says the same thing when read from top to bottom and from the bottom too the top.
