Ode to a Muslim

Poetry Contest
This contest gives the entrant a chance to explore early Islamic history. A poetic ode should be written to one of the following people:

The Prophet (Peace be upon him)

Khadijah, the Prophet's First Wife

Fatima, their daughter

Aisha, one of the Prophet's wives

Abu Bakr, A Caliph

Umar, A Caliph

Uthman, A Caliph

Ali, a blood relation of The Prophet

You will need to check alternative spellings, as transliteration from Arabic to English is not consistent.

This gives people on a mostly Western and Christian website a chance to learn about the beginning of mainstream Islam. Since it will require a great deal of research, the entry fee is high.

Remember that an ode praises someone, so positive characteristics should be emphasized.

The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 140.00 member dollars. There are 11 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 360.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.

Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Friday, December 31, 2010.
