Write a Bob (A new poetry form)

The Bob is named after a friend of mine. He and i spent some time coming up with and crafting the rules for this form.



The Bob: Structure and Rules

1. Stanza Structure: The poem consists of three quatrains (four-line stanzas) followed by a final couplet (two-line stanza), totalling 14 lines.


2. Syllabic Pattern:
   
   Quatrains: Each line follows a 5-7-5-7 syllable count.
   Couplet: Each line has 9 syllables.


3. Rhyme Scheme:
   
   Quatrains: Employ an ABAB rhyme scheme.
   Couplet: Both lines rhyme, forming a CC pattern.


4. Refrain: The second line of the first quatrain is repeated as the second line of the second quatrain, and the final couplet is a variation of this refrain, altered to provide a twist or deeper insight.


5. Thematic Element: The poem should explore a central theme, with each quatrain approaching it from a different angle or perspective, culminating in the couplet that offers resolution or a poignant conclusion.

Shadows whisper low,

echoes linger in the night,

memories won't go,

fading fast beyond my sight.



Winds still hum their tone,

echoes linger in the night,

steps I walk alone,

chasing ghosts beyond the light.



Fingers trace the past,

paths once taken now unclear,

nothing built can last,

time erases what was near.



Echoes still call, but I will not kneel,

walking toward a dawn that’s real.

 

The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 55.00 member dollars. There are 7 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
