X-Mas Phoneme and Phonics Challenge

The topic for this contest is: phonics and phonemes.

A phoneme is the smallest unit of sound that distinguishes one word from another. For example, in the English language, p, b, d, and t in the word pad, pat, bad, and bat. Phonics is a method of teaching people to read by correlating sounds with letters or groups of letters in an alphabetic writing system.

Write a children's story that is 100-500 words in length that contains at least two phonemes. No poetry please. The story does not need to rhyme but it can if the writer chooses to rhyme it. The following story is an example of a contest entry:

Gus and Pug

Gus wore red socks and had a pup named Pug.
After Gus got off the big bus,
He walked home and took off his red socks.
Gus dropped them in the hamper.
Pug sniffed and sniffed, then dug and dug to get Gus's red socks.
Stop Pug! Gus said.
Pug ran and hid the socks, but Gus caught him.
Gus picked up Pug and gave him a hug.
Oh Pug! You silly pup. I know where to find them!
Gus got his red socks from under the bed and dropped them
back in the hamper.
Pug gave Gus another sniff and wagged his tail.
Gus picked up Pug and gave him a hug.

For this challenge, the story must incorporate Christmas in some way.

Creative approaches are welcomed. But contest voters will be asked to consider the topic when making a choice for a winner.
