sPUNtaneous poetry

Poetry Contest
Another Oh-Pun contest! Write a poem of at least 4 (four) lines in length, no longer than 40 (forty), rhymed or unrhymed. Any poetic form is acceptable. Use at least one pun. You may use the contest photo for inspiration, or you may choose an entirely different subject or theme. Keep it G-rated or PG-rated, for a general audience. Remember a pun is a play on words, where what is said may sound like something else with the same pronunciation or even the same spelling.

Example:

The Musician

He played his guitar with a grin,
while she listened with fist under chin.
When he finished, she smiled.
"You're a musical child!
You can pick any pick if you win!"

Then she added, "I'd love it, you know,
if you played violin for the show!"
He demurred, "No, not me.
I prefer to be free,
so I won't be your violin beau."

In this two-stanza poem, which mimics the meter, rhyme, and form of two limericks, I used the word 'pick' as a pun, since it can mean 'choose or select' and also 'a small, hard, flat, plastic device used to pluck strings on a guitar to produce notes.' The second pun I used was 'violin beau,' which sounds exactly like 'violin bow.' But the word 'beau' means a male admirer or boyfriend, and 'bow' is what is drawn across the strings of a violin.
It might be helpful to bold your puns or put them in quotation marks or italics, but that is optional.

The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 28.00 member dollars. There are 11 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 72.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.

Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Monday, September 28, 2020.
