The topic for this contest is: To Arms. You are awakened in the morning by what sounds like Thunder. The sky is red. In the dim light of the early dawn you see parachutes in the distance. You hear the sounds of planes and far off you hear what sounds like gun fire. Write a story on this scenario.
Write a story that somehow incorporates the topic. The story does not have to be specifically about the topic. But should clearly incorporate the topic into the story.
Creative approaches are welcomed. But contest voters will be asked to consider the topic when making a choice for a winner.
Minimum length 1500 words. Maximum Length 3,500 words. Recommended length 2,000 - 3,500 words.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 49.00 member dollars. There are 11 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 126.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
