Write a story that starts with this incomplete sentence: I USED TO
and complete it by entering what you used to do. It can be one word (a verb such as smoke, steal) or two words (drink milk) or several words (stay up until 11 PM).
Your story must start with the incomplete sentence above. You must complete the sentence. Then you will continue to write your story. When you are finished with your story, your last sentence must be one of the two following sentences:
1) That is why I do not DO IT any longer.
The words DO IT must be replaced with what you no longer do. It can be one word (steal, smoke) or two words (drink milk) or several words (stay up until 11 PM)
OR
2) That is why I no longer DO IT.
Again, the words DO IT need to be replaced with what you no longer do.
No longer and any longer have the same meaning. They are just used differently depending on whether the sentence is positive or negative. Remember, you can only have one negative in a sentence. So you could say "That is why I don't eat peanuts any longer." The word don't is negative so you would use any longer. You could also say "That is why I no longer eat peanuts." Now the negative word is no. Also notice that the word order is different. Any longer comes after the verb. No longer comes before the verb or between an auxiliary verb and main verb. Here are some more example of sentences:
That is why I can't help my son any longer.
That is why I can no longer help my son.
That is why I don't live there any longer.
That is why I no longer lives there.
That is why I won't stay up past 11 PM any longer.

However, your story must begin with the incomplete sentence provided and you must make it a complete sentence by adding one, two or several words. Your story must also end with one of the two sentence choices provided and you must replace the words DO IT with one, two or more words.
Minimum length 600 words. Maximum Length 1,600 words. Recommended length 800 - 1,200 words. However, the recommended length is just that....a recommendation. Your story can be 601 words long or 1,599 words long. It is totally up to you. BUT REMEMBER, it cannot be less than 600 words nor can it be more than 1,600 words.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 68.00 member dollars. There are only 1 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 72.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 5 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
