Soldiers At War!
Once again, I'm trying to find something to stretch our skills and take us out of our comfort zone. This is WAY out of mine.
Write a prose piece, fiction or non-fiction of at least 700 words and no more than 3000. This can be chapter one of a novel or part one of a story. It can be a complete piece as well. No poetry.
Your piece must focus on combat. I don't want generals planning strategy. I want boots on the ground soldiers engaged!
You may choose land, sea, air or a combination of those. It can be as grand as the Normandy Invasion or as small as one sniper picking off a few stragglers one at a time.
Your time-frame is from World War Two and forward to the present day.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 55.00 member dollars. There are 7 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
