Oz Harte Tumbling Words

Poetry Contest
Never Won A Contest
This unique poetry contest is designed to test an entrant's skill with word choice and word use.

The last word in a line must become the first word in the next line. However, the word must change, or tumble, in the process. The poet is required to add, subtract or substitute one letter in the second word. This continues to the end of the poem. An example would be:

We met each other overtly
Covertly I offered you my heart
Hear my words as they linger
Longer than the day

The poet may choose to jumble the last word in a sentence, but it must tumble before being used:

Nevermore would I walk this path
That was my choice, a choice I made

Plural to singular and vice-versa is considered a tumble: sword to swords or hearts to heart.

Please submit a minimum of 10 lines to a maximum of 20 lines. The verse may or may not rhyme, it is your choice. The subject is open but no profanity, vulgarity, erotica, pornography, graphic or violence based imagery. Essentially, nothing inappropriate. Please conform to good writing style. No CAPS locked, sticky caps, incorrect spelling, obscure ancient and redundant words or contrived grammar.

As the Oz Harte Tumbling Words Contest provides you an opportunity to express your word skill and to present a self contained, understandable poem, no artwork and no author's notes are to be used.
This is a Winless contest. Only authors that have never won first place may enter.

The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 22.00 member dollars. There are 7 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 36.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.

Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Friday, July 4, 2014.
