New Arrival Poetry

Poetry Contest
For our New Arrival contest we are looking for Acrostic poems. Create a poem where the first letter of each line spells out a word (downwards).

Here is an example of an Edgar Allan Poe poem titled simply "An Acrostic":
Elizabeth it is in vain you say
"Love not" - thou sayest it in so sweet a way:
In vain those words from thee or L.E.L.
Zantippe's talents had enforced so well:
Ah! if that language from thy heart arise,
Breath it less gently forth - and veil thine eyes.
    Endymion, recollect, when Luna tried
To cure his love - was cured of all beside -
His follie - pride - and passion - for he died.

So create a poem in this format to enter the contest. You can win a $100 Visa gift card (accepted anywhere Visa is accepted), the "New Arrival Poetry" title (and an updated signature), and your poem listed on the winners page.

The poem can be about anything but must be in the Acrostic format. Creative approaches are welcomed.

The purpose of this contest is to welcome new poets to the site. Entries accepted by new writers to the site only. Writers are welcomed to write other poems on the site (outside of the contest) to gain experience first.

The winners will be selected by the FanStory.com Contest Committee. The committee will read and discuss the entries. A winner will be announced approximately one to two weeks after the deadline passes.

One entry per person. New entries only. Poetry only.
