Loved it to pieces, especially the song rendition on the end. I have had 4 goldens. Hubby and I given a Jack Russell who was used for breeding, first small dog. She had been owned by a bartender who retired and abandoned her. Terrified of fireworks and thunder, but very little else. Esther

Hi John,
if we didn't actually have the pleasure of such a magic furry companion such as Cooper in our lives, we all know, or knew one, or possibly two? Guess it may be a golden retriever-labrador thing with the storms, thunder and the loud noises of fireworks... hmmmm, maybe I have a tad of that breed in me also?

Love your sense of humour, your wit and reconstructions of certain songs to fit your wonderfully composed stories.

Hey((((((, I'm still going with Iron Butterfly... yeah, your fault!

Enjoyed this one Brother!

With our thoughts we create...
dog-day-nights.

Warm regards,
James.

Hi John,
I love your story about your travelling man, Cooper. What a cute story and song. I have a golden Retriever, too, and she fits the description of both your own dog and the one in the story. She loves the outdoors, swimming in the pond (tank) and snow. But she's terrified of firecrackers and anything resembling a storm. You nailed the breed!!

Take care,
Rhonda

What an enjoyable story, John! Goldens are the best pets overall. As you state in your piece, they are loyal companions but also scaredy-cats.

I loved this! Best, JohnC

I love this story about Cooper. It made me think of our grand dog, Gus. He is a Golden Retriever also. You used a beautiful picture for Cooper. The Traveling Dog song is too cute. Thank you for sharing! Blessings, Teri

This is a good lost then found safe and sound story, John. I'm with Cooper, I hate thunderstorms, I don't blame him for hiding. I loved his dream, and to music too. Well done, loved it.
Cheers
Valda

Nice complementary photo art choice.
Sorry that Cooper had arthritis.
Glad he was so beloved of the humans around him.
Interesting and cute to imagine that he awoke with a doggy smile after enjoying his dream of hearing Ricky Nelson's 'Travelin' Man' in his dreams.

I liked the tale about Cooper very much. It reminded me of our last dog who was frightened of just those same things and used to howl miserably and shiver... I was less entranced by the words of the song. I guess I prefer original writing. kay

Nicely written. Well done.
I remember Ricky Nelson's song well.
We had a dog with the same fears: thunder and gunfire. He was terrified.
Good luck in the contest.
