A Five Senses Poem for the Japanese Club

If I Were a Dolphin

by June Sargent

I'd smell the salty air

as sun begins to rise

above an azure sea

I'd watch my friends

swimming with their calves

'neath the noonday sun

They squeak and chirp,

click and whistle ~

loud as human beings

And then we'll dine

on scrumptious shrimp

in a sea fan garden

At sunset we will celebrate

spinning, dancing in the waves ~

cool and comforting

A poem highlighting the five senses in stanzas of three lines of eight or less syllables each. Free verse.
