Same old, Same old

Poetry about this month Contest Winner 

I did not fall in love this month
And was third best in a contest
But if I had fallen in love
That contest would be second best

 

My heart I’ve searched all this past month
And my heart, I’ve writ all month long
Will my words reach a willing ear?
Will others hear my heartfelt song?

 

How many words do I have left?
Do they just fly into the skies?
Do I long for recognition
Or be content for that third prize?

 

I’ll write today just as all month

And I hope to write tomorrow

And if top prize never appears

God will assuage all my tears
