In second place finished Entities of Light by bard owl. In second place also finished Angel's Fleece by BradJ001. In third place finished Faith in a nose.... by Dreamdancer.

Committee Member Comments For Wings of the Soul by foxey

  • Eloquent poetic form which addresses the topic at hand.
  • The first line of this well written, smooth flowing poem says it all: faith, you can't see it, yet you still believe it. An excellent write.

Entities of Light by bard owl

  • I felt this one fit the requirements of the contest and was beautifully expressed.
  • This poem's rhyme and flow, combined with it's well worded message, shown a little brighter than many other excellent poems entered in this contest.

Faith in a nose.... by Dreamdancer

  • Very nice tribute to all canines who put their lives on the line to protect us all, as well as a lovely memorial to this member's former partner. (These dogs' lives are arguably shortened by the perpetual sniffing of various toxins during training.) Fresh perspective on faith! :)

Father by Emotional Soldier

I was impressed with the dedicated sincerity of this poem as well as the easy to read rhythm.

This was a powerful piece. Short, punctuating lines drove the meaning home deep.

This poem was creative and unique making the readers think. Great job!

The Search by sallysaucer

This poem flowed smoothly when read but the meaning is what really captured my vote. The importance of self-love should be thought of this way in a healthy person.

Chaplain by mamaboots

A well thought out acrostic who's meaning is especially poignant in today's war torn world.

Commenting on the Waiting For My Daughter
This heart-wrenching piece used excellent word choices and compact writing to immerse the reader in the horrors of Alzheimer's and the victims it leaves behind.

This story was touchingly real and written with much compassion and understanding.

Very nicely done - excellent flash fiction which touches upon a pervasive societal concern.

The Years Condensed by Louis's Lady
This short piece was an excellent example of flash fiction. Superb use of language lead the reader down an assumed path, only to completely shift perspective in the last sentence.

Very nicely done and illuminates a culturally-relevant topic.

This poem did an excellent job incorporating the picture into a story of redemption of a broken man. Short, hard-hitting sentences and well-written comparisons between the narrator's reality and the first Christmas combined to make this poem a winner.
