Rick Jeffers : I'm extremely open-minded, and democratic by nature, but adhere to no labels nor conform to any lifestyles. I live for the moment, and adapt to the situation. I treat people with respect, and expect them to do the same. I'm not shy and am very outspoken, will fight for what I think is right, and believe the actual truth, not the truth you hope for, is the most important thing. I try to live by only two rules in my life: - Pay your own way, one way or another. - Don't intentionally hurt anyone, physically or emotionally, except in defense of yourself, those you love, and the innocents that can't protect themselves. My life's motto and ambition is to leave no stone unturned, and I aspire for every day to be a new adventure. My life's goal: When my time has come, I can look inside myself and know only love and respect for the person I am in that moment. It's said that life is a game and most religions considers it a test. If either are true, and at the end of all things I know nothing but love for myself and contentment in my mind, I believe I'll pass the test, and I'll win the game. I understand that by definition the human species only betters itself by our own mistakes and those made before us, because without receiving an owner's guide, nor an instruction manual, our mistakes are all we have to learn by. By the definition of human perfection, you must be flawed to be perfect. By allowing ourselves the truth of our perfectly flawed nature, we shouldn't hate our ability to make mistakes, nor become enslaved to the insecurities that follow our inability to accept our own failures. Embrace your mistakes and know that as a human it's necessary to make them, and that embracing them, accepting them, and learning from them is as close to perfection as we will ever get. I also know that every day of my life I've desired to be a good man, and to do the right thing. Knowing these truths, I have no reason to lie. I feel the act is cowardice. Stand by your actions, your decisions, and your words or admit your ignorance and correct yourself. I believe that chocolate can be as dangerous as drugs, if it controls you instead of the other way around. I like both and control both. Anne Rice said it best, "If the mind can give no meaning, then the senses give it. Live for this, wretched being that you are." As for the Unspeakable Two, Religion and Politics; I think religion is a cop-out that allows people to never have to search for real answers in their life, and gives them a place to hide from the fear that accompanies the uncertainty of not knowing. If someone needs the Bible, the Qur'an, whatever the hell Tom Cruise reads on Sunday mornings, etc., to explain the difference between right and wrong, they don't need religion, they need empathy. The correct answer is, "It's possible, I don't know.". I believe that politics slows down progress, feeds the self-important, breeds corruption, and helps the ignorant feel otherwise. If pro is the opposite of con, then by definition progress would be the opposite of Congress. "True patriotism is loving your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it." - Mark Twain I will never judge someone for the color of their skin, where they come from, what they look like, their sexual orientation, or any characteristic they had no choice in acquiring. I will judge them by their words, their choices, they're actions, and how they treat other human beings, and all living creatures, if I feel the need to judge them at all. I'm very secure in my sexuality, my state of mind, my sense of self worth, my value to humanity, and in my status as a man. I've proven it too many times not to be. As of now, I'm still alive, still on an adventure, still pissing people off, and still doing it my way. I refuse to define myself out of concern of what others might think of me or who I choose to be . I own me, and will choose what is right and wrong based on personal experience and my own common sense. Period. -R. J. |
