Allroy: Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. Simon Peter said to them, ?I am going fishing.? They said to him, ?We will go with you.? They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. I wonder whether my parents had any idea that naming me after the apostle Simon Peter would set me on a lifelong quest ? to become a ?proper? fisherman. The first paragraph of John 21 sums it up pretty well for me; I love sharing my passion with others, and I often catch nothing! But for me and my ?limited? skills, the fish are just a side show - such is the magnificent surroundings that I am blessed to fish in, particularly the inland rivers of Terra Australis. Every day on the water is a gift, one which we must protect for our future generations. |
