ZBaron: Posted a story written with a post-modern form. Not sure how it will be received considering I haven't seen anything like it on this site. Hopefully people will read with an open mind. |

ZBaron: Currently working on a short story cycle about a group of high schoolers set in a small town in the '80s. The main characters, who have multiple stories each (think Jennifer Egan's A Visit From the Goon Squad), range from a pair of baseball playing brothers, to the promiscuous girl, to the prom king and queen. I've tried to write from a perspective of every "type" of kid in high school-geek, popular, quiet, obnoxious, etc. Since I am a child of the mid '80s, I was wondering if anyone has any insight or small details about high school life in the 1980s? While this predominantly follows the baseball playing brothers and their love interest (yes, singular), I want it to read as authentic to the '80s as possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |
