Coralie Johnson: As a part-time faculty member for Eastern Michigan University, I teach women and gender studies, online, for students of all ages. I am deeply concerned for girls and women with regard to issues such as bullying, domestic violence, rape, homelessness, racism, eating disorders, homophobia, women and disabilities and the impact of images on women's views of their self-worth...just to mention a few. Some of my poetry reflects these issues while others are based on other topics. I have self-published two book of memoirs, THE WISHING YEARS (1995) and A TREE GROWS IN TROUT CREEK (2007). I've enjoyed the pleasure of having won a competition for my play PIGEONS IN THE PARK that was produced at EMU and Performance Network, a professional theater company in Ann Arbor, MI. Another play, BEES, was produced at Boarshead Professional Theater in Lansing, MI. Writing is my passion and I try to work on it every day! |
