jdiederich7529: I'm trying to understand the Copenhagen interpretation... My previous understanding was that "observer" referred to a "conscious observer", which makes sense to me. But in "Physics and Philosophy", Heisenberg apparently states that an "apparatus" may constitute an observer. This makes NO sense to me; a yardstick (as an analogy) does not observe; it is used BY an observer to measure. Observation seems by definition a function of consciousness. |
