Another fantastic poem--written I can see--in the bloom of youth! Whether or not you are right is above my security clearance. Regardless, I find the idea a beautiful and comforting one.

Simply slendid. I'm not sure what else to say. There is still a poet in England who honors tradition--who has thehumor of Kipling and the bravado of Tenneyson. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

What a fantastic poem! I can see the influence of Kipling in your verse; he is one of my favorites, too. What an inspiration you are. I hope live to write verse at your same age!

Well written tribute and a reminder to current generations of the sacrifices these soldiers made for their country.
Luckily my dad came home but his brother did not and Dad wanted us to remember his brother and others that never came home. Dad was in the D-Day landing.
I enjoyed this beautiful tribute.
Regards,
Mary

This work has reached the exceptional level
"In Remembrance", is an exceptionally well-written, and deftly descriptive piece. It was a privilege, to both read and review, this talented poet's work.
To my Father, and all those who served. "God bless you, and "Lest we Forget". To me, this is definitely a six. I look forward to seeing your next post.

Eloquent and touching tribute. This stanza is particularly poignant:

They'll not grow old, as we who live grow old,
For now they rest in treasured memory
And, though Reveille's notes sound clear and bold,
It shall not wake them from their reverie.

Excellent flow and rhymes and phonics.

I loved reading the first stanza aloud so much that I had to read it twice before continuing:

Eleven chimes lie soft upon the air:
Then, in the reverent quiet, a baby's cries
Remind us of the reason we are there --
That child lives free, because men gave their lives.

*
And all are gone(,) as years have claimed their toll,

Love the image of them bathed in light by the grace of sacrifice. Bravo.

Warmly, rd

Lovely tribute--three days early!--flawless flow and --bold and elegant imagery. (Two pairs don't quite rhyme--not sure if that's by intent--regardless, works for me as is) Kudos.

Yours is a strong and touching poem penned right before Veteran's Day for those brave souls gone way too soon.
Very nice job. The artwork is a nice accomaniment.
With all the new poetry styles, it is nice sometimes to go back to the old tried and true.
I think this traditional style with tight ryhme works well, especially with the topic.
Good work.

Rhymelord,
This review is from the daughter of a two time bronze star award recipient. 643 rd tank destroyer division and the first tank across the Ramagen Bridge in Germany. My dad was actually decorated by Gen. Patton himself on the beach at Normandy for his bravery.
So I read your poem with tears in my eyes and pride in my heart for all the soldiers who never made it home- but who gave the very best of themselves for their country!
As an aside here
My brother Jim is the bugler in Ma. that is charged with playing the echo for taps at the Nov. 11th ceremony each year.....so that mention in your poem got a reacti9on from me as well.
Thank you for your poem and for your service.
