Wow, this looks positively wintry to me. Is it still like this? I shiver just to look at the picture and from reading your beautiful words. I think you've done an awesome job with this poem. Not an easy form to flow naturally. But I think you've managed just that. Good luck in the contest. All the best. Ulla:)))

This is VERY nice! It is truly inspirational without being mawkish, and it is a really clever and sustained use of the ABC format. And the picture goes well with it.

Hi Diane, this is a really good ABC poem - a double, very well written. I like the personification of the trees 'heaving heavy sighs while sustaining ice-laden injuries; afterwards, nature's noble sentinels, along this scarred woodland route,' - good enjambment maintained throughout the poem and the content is very good. How fortunate is the last line from Corinthians - and it fits perfectly. A well deserved six. Good luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothy x

Good Morning, Dorothy,
This is my first attempt - to my knowledge - of an ABC poem. I thought it was a perfect vehicle for me to attempt to capture the essence of the ice storm that befell our area and what individuals could take away from the perseverance of the trees. I don't handle acrostics very well at all, but this form was challenging and rewarding. I love attempting to new forms!
Thank you for your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.

This is a nicely done double ABC poem which uses trees in a storm as a metaphor for staying strong while facing life's hardships.
Good luck in the contest.

In my opinion, this is an absolutely lovely poem - the initial descriptive verbal images are enchanting and the spiritual reflections warming, despite the wintery and striking photograph...

Just when I thought there weren't anymore schemes to be learned, I learn a new one. Where do you find these things, Mrs. KT? You're undeterred by any scheme, no matter how constricting. I'm impressed. :) Way to go on this one. Made me think of Idaho back home.

Hello Friend!
I am having so much fun attempting to capture moments and thoughts through different poetic formats. There are so many out there that I have yet to discover and attempt! I thought that this latest storm to hit our area was the perfect subject matter for me to express my thoughts using an ABC format... Challenging but rewarding!
Thank you for your excellent rating and complimentary review! So appreciated!

Enjoyed your poem along with the picture very much. I like the message of how you relate the trees in winter to human life. I love how you used scripture at the end to show your belief in God.

Comment from Gloria ....
What a wonderfully vivid ABC poem, Diane. Ice snow is the worst and causes such lasting damage to trees and woodlands.
You've so eloquently stated this in your additional stanza and the sage advice to stand strong and be courageous.
Beautiful and best wishes to you in the contest. :)

Hello Gloria,
My sincere appreciation for your excellent rating and complimentary review.
This type of storm is truly wreaking havoc on the lives of the birds who migrate to northern Michigan for spring. Hoping the snow and ice melt soon.
Thank you again!
