I enjoyed reading the sonnet you attempted to write. Some of the rhymes and near rhymes did not work at all. They sounded forced. The following lines do not make sense.

I bet she'll love this. I have a friend from school that I still hang out with. We're opposites but I think that's why we get along so well. When we each got married both of our husbands quickly realized that we will always hang out and a hang out is never an hour or two. It's a full day kind of thing. Enjoy your time with her. Lots of information about this visit from a close friend. Like you noted, this is all over the place in both theme and meter. Typically ballad meter is 8 iambic syllables followed by 6. Then repeated. Still, loved the humor and the thoughts.
