Once again, Great job! The picture is great but your story was even better! I can understand why it got the recognized ribbon, it certainly deserved it! 5 Stars for sure!

Thought I'd start at the beginning to see who these guys are and why there is a story about them... other than the fact you chose to write one. Good job telling us about them. :)

Thanks for going back to the beginning and checking my tale out. Appreciate that very much. Perhaps you will continue to follow along? Chapters one, two, and three were designed to create these main characters.

I love the way the stories being seen through the eyes of a sixteen year old "greenhorn's" eyes. It makes for a very quirky look through the eyes of a kid. I learned a lot about the even quirkier names of the character's occupation, and even the name of a pig. Well done, Brett, Good scribing, blessings, Roy

Glad you enjoyed this portion of the tale. Having a narrator puts Wyatt right in the middle of the action where he can best relate the events of what happens. Appreciate you taking the time to read this portion of my tale and to write a review.

Yes , I guess you employed the Old west jargon and it gave credence to your story. It justified the setting and introduced the period of the story effectively. The readers get to feel the tone and mood of the story. Thanks for sharing your story to us.

"Mr. Shelton kept minutes for whatever job.." Really a business meeting? maybe he had some puny notes in his head? And since coffee was so scarce in the days just
after the war, there was instead a lot of chicory. I do like the overall story. Not in the least too long or boring. Is this Pecos in Texas and do they have havalinas as well as pigs?

Hi Brett, this is another fine chapter. I've been mostly bitten by younger horses that got a little too excited about the grain in my hand and bit down too far. Hurts like a bugger though!

Glad you enjoyed this portion of my tale. Appreciate you taking the time to read it and to pen a review. Being bitten by any horse does indeed hurt. One of the risks involved with being around them.

I think you have done a great job with your jargon in your story. I was enjoying reading the description of each character. Your ongoing story seems to be one that most western lovers can enjoy reading. Hugs

Great dialogue. sounds natural, and Wyatt makes a good narrator. I enjoyed the bit with the hog, and the comments on a hog's intelligence. Shelton's response was funny--that a hog wasn't any smarter than a hard-working farm hand or a horse. Excellent description of the wranglers. Off to a fine start. We'll see how Wyatt does with the horse. Hard-working bunch of men here. judi

Hi Brett,

I found a typo:
The remark infuriated Mr. Shelton, and he'd respond with, "Ain't no pig smarter than a good, hardworking, hand (I think a comma goes here) or a horse."
Take care,
