Of course I am just speaking from and drawing on my own personal experiences here as I say that.
When that door gets slammed in your face, chances are, that's about it.
Good rhyming, rhythm and flow in all six of your rhymed quatrains.

Blink, blink. Okay, the art is a door, sideways. The six and five syllable lines don't bring the tune out to me. No matter, it's more subtle that the old song "The only way out is to walk over me." Excellent post.
