What a beautiful love story this is. Even the happy for now sounds more like the happily ever after. There's much empathy and understanding in the relationship, and that love's strongest suit.

I love the opening sentences of your story - they're seductive and pull the reader in, encouraging their curiosity to find out what the story is about. Nice start.

Actually, alcohol had a problem with me. ~ slick touch!

Well done, Oliver.

A very well-written story about loneliness. We can be with a crowd of people and still feel alone. Or we can be on our own and feel we belong somewhere in the world around us.

Hi there;
This is so powerful. The emotions are raw and portray the life lived, or half-life I should say, by many. Booze, pills, sex; anything to mask the emotions and the pain; the pain of feeling 'not enough,' or 'good enough.'

I liked the ending. Your writing was crisp, clear and concise. Hopefully, your protagonist will be able to build on the feelings of closeness and find happiness,

Love is love. This is a beautiful story of what we all want -- love. Not judging, not thinking that someone is better, not someone thinking their God is the true God. Jeez, it's all about love. :)

Good morning, Oliver

Enjoyed the post. I liked the inner turmoil within both characters especially Jim's. The retrospective nature of both characters was spot. The flow was good as was the dialogue and interactions between Jim and Paul. No nits that I could see.

Take care and stay safe,

Ray

A poignant piece that captures the loneliness of not only old age, but a socially unaccepted life style.

Paul and I were together for awhile, at a time when our beards didn't grow out even if we left our faces unshaven for a month. (a brilliant way to give age to your characters)

Soft snores from the sleeping student (One noun gives the background of where this all began.)

Awesome, my friend.

Homosexual stories -male or female - doesn't set right with me, but I force myself to review them. Everyone is seeking a partner, be it for the moment or for life. This is very well written and shows the skills of the writer.

Thanks for the feedback. Just for the record, being gay isn?t a choice, but being a writer is, so I write about what I know

This speaks the author wishes to live alone, he does not like to enjoy hustles of life in outing, retiring, and enjoying at home, despite friend's invitation; though got a horror experience at a decision of outing; drunken state makes him to feel alone. DR ALCREATOR

YOu can't have it both ways. Either you can do whatever you want and be lonely, or you can live with one who loves you but must bend a bit to make it work. Decision time. Happens to everyone. Choose, and don't complain, don't look back.
