I have only three suggestions for this charming story:
1) comma after "rescued him(,) as I can't..."
2) semi-colon or double dash between independent clauses: "...husband and me(;) they..."
3) change that cute picture - it gives away the adorable plot too soon
Good luck in the contest!

Okay, I will edit and take your suggestions. However, the contest is over and my story won. Thanks for reading and the tips.

Oh! Congratulations! That's great (and I am not surprised.) :)) Happy New Year. (Most welcome.)

This is a great story. I love the name you gave the kitten. My cat is almost three years old and is still mad. That's why I love cats. Thanks for sharing this and have yourself a really great day

I know what you mean. My serious old cats have started acting like kittens again since Skeezix came to live here. My mother used to call one of my brothers Skeezix, that's where I got the name from. Thanks for reviewing.

Oh, he sounds precious! How lucky he was that you found him, or did he find you?? Cats have a way of doing that, you know!
Maybe he showed up to keep you young at heart, and living long enough to make sure you grow old together.
Take care, and give Skeezix a hug for me!

I'll have to wait till Skeezix is in the right mood to give him your hug. He is a typical male and only tolerates so much. LOL Thanks for the review.

Congratulations on the win!!! You got my vote.
Understood on the hug. Might want to blow him a kiss from the distance. haha.

This is excellent. You make a valid point. I've always said that dogs were created by God to give us companionship and love. Cats were invented by Satan to torment us.

Yep, you have that right. I have a dog too and Skeezix loves to pick on her. She seems to realize he is a baby and puts up with the kitten or walks away. Thanks for the review.

Love, love, love.
I know several of these monsters. I've seen them nesting in Christmas trees a lot lately, and hanging from draped Christmas lights. I even heard of a ham being eaten by inhuman creatures at the cat lady's house.

Yep, folks either love them or hate them, there seem to be no in between. I happen to be one of those people who love cats and I'm doomed to have them until the day I die. Which, by the way, will be sometime in my nineties. I have to stay alive to care for Skeezix now. LOL Thanks for the review.

I'm so glad you rescued the kittens. I also have a little darling that some monster tossed to the coyotes. Willow will be with me for the rest of her life. Good luck in the contest.

Oh, I'm so glad to hear when someone else rescues those poor unfortunate animals. People who abandon animals are the dregs of the earth. I would like to abandon them somewhere with no hope of survival. Thank you for reading and reviewing.

You have me laughing here. Cats do rule us and I am so glad you gave Skeezix a home. My husband and I have three cats, three passed away last year so we had six previously. I suspect we may end up with more. Love your story, it warms my heart.

I have seven cats in the house at this time, counting Skeezix. He came into the house and turned some of my older cats back into kittens again. One of my black cats plays with him all the time. Glad to meet another cat person.

Ha! Just like the little monster we met Thanksgiving day. Cough drops are a fun play toy too. I can see toilet paper running through the house and down the basement stairs. Great job Auntie. Love you.

Yeah, that really happened. The little monster strung toilet paper all over the house. Oh, I have an animal rescue person who is supposed to take the other two kittens sometime this week. I hope you realize I was only teasing when I was trying to make you feel guilty for not taking the kittens. I love you forever, Auntie.

Dear Mystery Writer,
Oh! I will be very happy when this contest is over and you can let me know who wrote this piece. It is really well-crafted and excellently presented. (I've seen a couple others in this contest, and so far you have it hands down!)
Only one teensy note:
The poor guy was so frightened and cold(,) I had to convince him I meant no harm and wanted to help him.
Good luck!

Thanks for your vote of confidence. My story did win the contest but I had some tough contenders. I thought the one story might beat me, and it almost did. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
