Beautifully written piece on the magic of Christmas made possible by love in the world. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa. He is called Love and it does exist in the world if we just look hard enough and believe. Your wonderful poetry piece has given others the vision to open their minds to the possibility of hope in humanity.

Loanna, this is a fine Christmas poem about how you discovered Santa, and share that joy with your children who lived in fear of not getting anything:
But I knew sure as Christmas dawn,
that gifts were surely here.
They couldn't know my secrets kept
would take the place of fear.
You describe your childhood of poverty that deprived you of a certainty of receiving gifts. I recall my childhood being such, too:
When I was two-and-four years old,
we had no toys or food.
My Daddy spent what all we had
to give us fire wood.
This is beautifully rhymed and imagined like a dark fairy tale. You then describe a miracle:
But we were happy anyway,
and couldn't ask for more-
so what a shock when by the tree
two bikes stood by the door!
You conclude with a message of hope and faith in Jesus' care:
And every year we worry not,
for we found out that day,
that Jesus will take care of us
because of Christmas Day.
The only error is that you have to move the space from before the semi-colon to after: Those bikes; our parents didn't buy-

Thought it a very good poem that flowed very well. I enjoyed reading the poem but think the last verse sounded like an afterthought. Well, just not comfortable for me. The next to last verse...an excellent place to stop. Well that's my take and I have been wrong more than once.
Anyway...thanks for sharing.

Truly, there is a reason why we continue to believe
in the Miracle of Christmas :-)
Is it, perhaps, because Christmas itself is the biggest
miracle of all...and it is at that time that our hearts
open up the widest?

This is such a spectacular testimony of goodness. As a Christian, my belief is God moves people to give, because we are made in His likeness and image, this is true. Beautifully written and expressed perfectly in abcb rhyme and 8686 quatrains, blessings, Roy

Nicely done, and good luck in the competition.
There will always be that question surrounding Santa, and for me, I am glad that thin line exists as it gives time to breathe....a niceness that this world needs more of.
