Hi friend. Hope your move to hot coffee does not land you in trouble. A coffee is as good as tea. I do not really mind. But I like the twists and the witty way of putting the writing, the short sentences and the sudden left or right turns are very good indeed.

Great work! I really wish I liked coffee. It always smells good to me and all the different flavors and varieties intrigue me. But, I'm just a cold beverage Pepsi kind of girl, I guess. :) I especially liked the rhyming in your poem and the short, quick lines. It made for a fun read. Very creative and cleverly written. Well done! :)

The fragmented style of the language here seemed to add up to an abstract Picasso like portrait of coffee. We seem to see that cup of coffee in bits and pieces, a sense of levitation, as the caffeine works its magic and lifts us into those higher gears necessary for rumination. The words seem to dance around the image, they are quite musical, and that makes for a good poem. estory

This is well-written for the coffee drinkers. This poem makes the non-coffee drinkers, like me, crave coffee. It would be a great write for a coffee commercial.

The last stanza made me smiled because I am a tea drinker.

Good luck in the contest.

Need for speed, coffee is more than passion.
I liked the conviction portrayed in words.
I enjoyed the wish and shades of feeling.
Truths retain.

Coffee is so much better than tea, specially in the mornings. Tea is okay but not something I want to drink right away in the morning. There is just nothing better than coffee.

Ahh.... sad. Just kidding!

It is possible, of course, to love iced tea AND coffee at the same time (though not mixed, though I'm certain SOMEONE likes mixing the two. Ew.).

I can feel the burn. That's my second biggest issue with the coffee--my tongue has lost more taste buds over that heat....

Great rhythm. Great rhymes.

Is it so bad? I think iced coffee okay BUT only if heavily flavored. Maybe you have just not savored the perfect flavor. All the best in the voting and thank you for sharing it.

Why try to
wake up
those past things best
forgotten now
for I detest
my wish to
pretend
my need to be
someone who likes
and drinks iced tea.

I think like many, I started out avoiding coffee, then, after children came and kept me up in the middle of the night, I took to it, but regarded it as a necessary evil, and eventually came around to loving it. Your poem seems to capture that arc. I particularly like the enjambment that links the past tow stanzas anddoes away with the pretense of not liking coffee.
