Hi Brett,
I don't post poetry very much now.
I am not good at writing them anymore.
The older that I get the less I write anything.
Instead I will read what others continue to write.

Always good to hear from you.
Keep writing, even if only for your own enjoyment.

1. To the left of where you see when you get a new review, you should see the word Community. Click on that word.
2. A list will drop down. The third item on that list is Clubs. Click on that word.
3. The page for the clubs will open. The Lyrics Make The Song Club is on top of that list.. Click on that club and it will open up for you. That is where you join us.
Hopefully this helps. If not, let me know.

Good morning, Brett: No, I still have not joined this group as i still have not started to write any music. I saw at the beginning of this post that you mentioned:
I know my postings may not appeal to the widest number of FanStorians. I am not concerned about that. I have come to realize on this site it is much better to post for like-minded members, and that is what I now do.
Well, I decided to read this post anyway, because anything that you write it is still interesting enough for a good read. I was correct in deciding to read it because even if I am not interested at this time in writing music, you have still taught me something about writing music. This way when I do decide to do so, I can reflect on what I have learned from you today, in this post. You have a way of encouraging others also in whatever you write so these posts do benefit whoever reads them. Thank you for sharing this information.

Glad you enjoyed this posting.
I very much believe instead of trying to please all members of this site with my writing, I am better served to remain within the niche I have been classified by most of them into, and that is a lyricist and short story writer, particularly about Cody Schroder. I am contented with this.
I do appreciate you taking the time to read my posts. Your reviews are always so insightful and helpful.
I do invite you to join the club, if only to read information about lyric writing.

That's terrific, thank you for the offer. I may surprise you soon.

So, why not join the club and share some of them? That is one reason for the club with other members?

Well done mate. Does it matter if I share my carols in here or my other songs that may have been already posted with my poems etc in FS? FS is getting picky and wanting more, more more, in reviews sigh!

hello Brett. I like the idea of songwriting. I think one of the reasons I started and stay with free style writing is because I wanted to learn how to write songs. I'm not so musically inclined however, only that I love music and listen non stop. Prefer it to TV any day! I always thought a good way to start writing would be to take a song already out there and follow the syllable count and measure. I enjoyed the article. See you round. :) deborah

I dabbled in lyrics a few times and I know I did not do them justice as I did not understand the fine line between lyrics and poems. Very informative

The difference between lyrics and poems. A very good question that perhaps the club may address.

Excellent share. Insightful. Delivered with a simple, gracious voicing. I am sure prospective lyricists will find it useful. Favorite line:
While lyricists may desire to write about themselves, from a very self-oriented point of view, they will be much better served to think outside the box.
However, using outside the box is a bit cliche - if you can conjure a fresh metaphor that means the same thing, that would be ideal.
Two spags:
But,(no ,) no downloaded songs belonging to anyone other than the member who downloaded the song are allowed.
*
So, the next time you want to write a new lyric(,) try placing yourself in the shoes of a character in a movie or a news story.
Overall, well paced and well delivered.
Warmly, rd

Thank you for this well written article. I found it informative because I am definitely interested in writing lyrics. Actually, I would like to convert my existing poetry into lyrics (if that's all possible). This article guides me to become a lyricist.
Thank you for sharing it with us. You are very thoughtful.
