Well done with a good message. I liked the small essay at the end of the poem and the picture was fine. Merry Christmas.

Your poem reminds me of the sermon the minister at my church gave last Sunday. She discussed Advent and Jesus as a light in the darkness of the times. This is a poem that reminds the reader the real reason of Christmas.

Light your house with strings that twinkle
Bring trees of sturdy boughs to glisten
Buying gifts for beloved family

Your poem expresses the true spirit of Christmas. I absolutely loved your comments about the boy who kindly opened the door for your Mother and sisters. We don't know too much from your comments as to whether the boy was needy but perhaps his being there and helping was a desire to be rewarded. Your deep faith is present in your verses. GSmuse

Thanks for the comments. He was not needy but just someone who held some of the Christmas spirit that made him worthy of the Jesus Gift. It is harder every year to find this spirit shown but important to find someone to give a gift just because it is Christmas. Giving to the needy or just some stranger that touches one with the Christmas spirit.

Hi, Dan

= Excellent picture to go with your poem.
= Darkness, indeed.
= So much emphasis put on gifts, and not the real reason for the season.
= Nice work, my friend.

Cheers, J

This is a well written poem with a bit of history and information in the tale.
Well done. I'm not sure what the picture is but it does look dark indeed, and kind of scary.
Well done and thank you for sharing this with us.

Hi Dan read your foot note and yes it makes one feel the light and knowing that in the darkness of Advent we move slower, we listen more than we speak, we hold questions rather than answers. We wait expectantly but without specific expectations. Waiting in darkness is an act of faithfulness and surrender to the Coming One. Waiting becomes our prayer, a prayer that is and will be answered by God's presence.

Gert

I loved the story of the little boy, caring for someone who had trouble shaking off the shackles of self. God gets outer attention by inhabiting the Earth, coming to give not receive, and yet He owns all! Beautifully written my friend, sensitive and articulate, thoughtful and well presented, in rhyming quatrains, well done, merry Christmas, blessings, Roy

I am trying so hard to get in the Christmas Spirit. It has not been the same since my husband passed away. This year I have a granddaughter and two great grandchildren living next door. Perhaps it will liven up soon. Nice poem. Good thoughts. Well done. Nancy

The light is never far off even in an hour of darkness. This is a lovely reminder for the first week of Advent. Nicely done and thank you very much for sharing it.
