I can empathize, because I have watched this happened to loved ones, The strongest adjective you have is wretched..
More adjectives like that would elevate the feeling of devastation, in my humble opinion.

Hello anonymous Poet: My heart goes out to you in this poem. It is such an excellent entry for this Feelings contest. I think we all know the horror of losing someone, that we love more than life itself, to some form of Cancer. My mother died from Brest Cancer and it will never escape my heart that she was such a good woman. She always took care of her self. She did none of the things, at all, to end up with any form of Cancer but we all know that Cancer does not discriminate. My heart goes out to you .
The poem is deep and the picture is extremely effective. Much love and hugs,..

This is a feeling writing prompt contest entry it talks about the human body and how our whole lives we depend on it so but then all of a sudden it can become our enemy this is Well written with good theme and imagery read well flowed well had no grammar issues descriptive content and measures were perfect thanks for this talk to Ricky 1024
