I hope it's not a bomb! As for the receipt, anyone can make a fake receipt. That's not enough. The seller must prove he owned it, and so on all the way back to the artist. And they can't.

Thank you for the kind review. The artist has been dead for probably 200 years.

I did not read your fist chapter. But your summery and list of characters made it possible. You sure can write well. Congratulations on your first book being published. I am feeling lousy since yesterday. No changes needed. I hope you are a bit better now.

"Is milk kosher?" asked Jane.
"It's one of those tricky foods. We can drink it only if it comes from Rabbi approved cows." Barbara I am half Jewish but I have never been told if milk was kosher just to avoid eating it within a certain amount of hours of meat....do not drink of the creature that suckled the meat or some such...my aunt Rachel taught me that, is that a joke about the Rabbit's or is it true? Brilliantly written as always kind regards Meia xx

First off, I'm so glad to have you back with us, and hopefully in the best of health.

Now to the post. This one is another excellent one and moves at a fast pace.

I enjoyed it and found it very entertaining. Slowly, I'm getting the hang of the characters in the story. No spags that I could detect. The plot continued to race and is sprinkled with a variety of intriguing situations.

It was well worth the wait, Barb, and I'm so pleased your are feeling like your old self again. This was a brilliant part, informative about Jewish customs and beliefs and the mystery of the false receipt. But, best of all, was the cliff-hanger! What is in that package? I hope it's not a nasty surprise. Well done, my friend. I thoroughly enjoyed this part. :) Sandra xxx

Hello!! :)
I must have missed a few chapters. I'm glad she hasn't found the painting yet. Maybe I should fan you, so I don't miss any chapters.
My computer is not feeling the best, so that is why I'm away and not really a participant right now.
Take care,
Rasmine

So we got rid of that bug. Good to see you up and (ADAM) I find no fault. It seems to be humming right alone. I would hate to live in a Pin House in New York. Love the wide open spaces. Blessings

Good morning, Barbara

Excellent continuation. The flow and continuity were spot on as were the dialogue and character interactions. Liked the continued use of using Emily as a buffer between the serious nature of the developing situation. I enjoyed the read.

No need to apologize for having the flu.

Take care and stay safe,

Ray

Hi Barbara,

Not a particularly surprising turn of events here with the 'receipt'. Although Phillip did find out the info very quickly. I didn't think it would be that easy.

Nice taut writing.

I think that sometimes reviewers get out of a story the histories and experiences they bring to it:

"Dorotheum is huge in art auctions, according to this, they never auctioned that painting."

I received a degree in art history and used to pay attention to the art world. I know that some art thieves fake or create the provenance of stolen art, creating a fake list of owners and auctions to make the painting look legitimate. I question I have for you and Shana is whether or not the painting is a forgery? Do you know if is the painting stolen from Shana's family?

"A receipt, but we're not sure of its authenticity."

I knew it. That's what I've been saying.

Oh, Emily, you have a lot to learn:

"What's a Rabbi? Is it a type of rabbit?"

I love how you use the girl's lack of knowledge of Judaism to inform the reader. The traditions to the uninitiated can be as confusing as the provenance of the stolen painting. These are parallel story lines intertwine, enriching and deepening one another. It is because of this two-track approach that I find your novel to be entertaining and informative. I usually learn something in each chapter. This is on top of me being entertained by the chapter.

Thank you, Barbara, for sharing another exceptional chapter.
