This is a wonderful poem for Veteran's Day which is today in the US. Your words capture the loss of many soldiers and horses who fought for freedom. I also like how this is a WWI poem.

Let us now our heads and give thanks for those who have made it through this ugly war. And pray for our dead who never made it home to celebrate today

Hello Mrs Pumpkin, Yep, not a bad photo of the old girl! As far as the poem, my dad served in New guinea and he came home. So many gave their lives for us. We do remember them, but how many more must die before peace with prevail? Blessings for reading my new friend. XX Kace.

That's a good question and sadly, not one anyone can accurately answer.

This is a lovely tribute. Yes, veterans and those not lucky enough to come home again are heroes no matter where they're from. Thank you for sharing this. Well done.

"Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn, at the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them."
