I remember when my wife and I were traveling in Russia, there were lots of homeless people, sleeping on the steps and entrances to residences in St. Petersburg, this was summer, but I wondered about those Arctic winters. Beautifully written haiku Gypsy, a most poignant poem, well done, blessings, Roy

The last line impacts the reader. The image of the man sleeping on the cardboard is a strong one. Excellent haiku form that reflects today's world. There is a feeling of sadness in your words.

Hi GBR - this is a perfect haiku and the message is quite stark. Lines one and two interconnect well and your line three is a very good satori. There are so many homeless people sleeping rough, it is sad. This made your haiku very relevant. Well done. Warm regards Dorothy xx

Marival,
Hello. I hope that man is okay, if you see him again, maybe you could tell him where the shelters are. Then again, I know some won't use them. Thank you, for writing this. My father was homeless for two years after his girlfriend died. He pulled himself up, finally, and got an apartment. One time he saw an image of him for a sign for helping the homeless. He asked me if he should sue because he was never asked before they took his picture. People do that and seem to forget that these are human beings like they are. Sorry if I sound angry.
This poem is beautiful and caring.

money saves people. as we shelter people find themselves sheltering. money is a shelter people don't have. there are times people without shelter is a shattering scene. your poem was a delight to read. thanks for the read. "your so vein" means mood or humor.

Oh this one really hits home right now as we just got back from a trip to San Francisco and saw so many homeless. Perfectly stated in your poem.

It's sad that it's a scene that you can see on any big city on any day in the street.I'm from chicago originally but I've seen the homeless on the street in the smaller northern mn city I iive I'm now.The other day a homeless man stood between the lanes of traffic going in and out of walmart. He was with a dog who was laying across his backpack, and the sign he held said." We may be ugly but we still have to eat". It's heartbreaking that people have to live that way. Thanks for sharing yourpoem

A great social criticism in a short Haiku, Gypsy.
I liked it a lot for that reason, and for the fact that while we sit around in our cosy little homes, someone is unfortunate enough to be making do with cardboads as roof and bed.

Long time no see. I'm happy to read you again.
I love the social criticism in this haiku.
Sometimes I forget how lucky I am, but then I see somebody like the man you describe and I feel guilty. How come I have everything and others have so little?
Thanks for caring.
