Waspy women we adore you.
Waspy women we adore you.
Waspy women we adore you.
Though you may treat us cruel.
This made me laugh at the truth of it, the irony. Very well written well done kind regards Meia x

In my opinion, another stunning write by this amazing and prolific poet - although suggesting it singing it to a particular tune, it didn't work for me - got lost in the attempt, and I used to be a singer. However, it is still a stunning and highly original piece - the stanzas are smooth in both rhythm and rhyme, and I found the poem fun...

this is an interesting piece of poetry dear easyeverett1! i think you have successfully displayed your attraction to those women who are not very highly respected, at least not in the "right" way.
thanks for sharing!
blessings and a big squeeze!

Hi Tom, A very well written poem and cleverly displayed. The thing I have noticed about your very clever poems is that every stanza could stand alone and still make sense. Good single rhyming line after the triplets in each stanza. The poor do not adore the rich or do they?'. In my opinion NO. I'm speaking as an English person. The English generally do not admire success and riches. I think it may be different in America. A more generous attitude perhaps. Enjoyed the read - thank you for posting. Warm regards Dorothy

Hi Dorothy. Thanks a million friend. I forgot to let readers know that they
can sing this poem to the tune of Battle Hymn of The Republic. Try it is fun.
Granted, my effort doesn't quite measure up to the original but we all can't
be Julia Ward Howe who wrote the original. It came from a song written in honor of the abolitionist John Brown who led nineteen slaves in an insurgent attack on plantations in the south killing a number of white slave owners. Many Union soldiers wrote their own lyrics to John Brown's Body Lays A Smoldering In The Grave and when a friend told Ms. Howe she should put her own pen to the old John Brown song and Howe did exactly that and created one of the nation's most endearing hymns. tom

I really enjoyed reading this, Tom, although I'm not entirely sure of the meanings behind it.
I especially enjoyed your use of internal rhyme, a poetic tool I like to use frequently in my own poetry.
The rhyme and meter are very consistent.
I was able to find a definition for "waspy" in the Urban Dictionary:
waspy
rich, stuck up white girl, posh family
"Damn, that bitch is so waspy, it'd be an honour to smash her face in."
Their words, not mine, LOL.

Lol. I don't know where this stupid poem originated in my disturbed mind but I thought I should write something a little lighter than my usual doomsday fare. Thanks Dean. tom

This is a nicely written tribute. Pardon my ignorance but I'm not sure what Waspy women are. Perhaps it's an American thing? It's beautifully crafted and flows really well- PM

Hi PM. Waspy is a term used in a derisive manner describing wealthy people who by their physical carriage and group identification appear
to display a self-righteous arrogance based sole on their societal position
and perceived wealth. The original name for people with this profile were
known as a WASP, (White Anglo Saxon Protestants). America has many WASPS but not all are so lofty as to debase all those below their status but as we know one bad apple can destroy the bunch. lol Thank you. tom

Hi, Tom;
Very brave of you to take aim at the White Anglo Saxon women. You have certainly given us a description of how they act, and confess their sins - and turning right around and doing the same thing - good job. Thank you for sharing,

This is a good poem with good rhythm, flow and rhyming, and it tells a story.
Although, I'm not sure what the 'waspy women' title refers to here.
Well done.

EasyEverett, This is a well thought out and cleverly composed poem. The descriptive rhyme with the sprinkles of alliteration throughout adds to the creativeness of this piece. I enjoyed it - Waspy women seem to have a place in society. Great job. ~DD

Admiration for these upper class gals here parading their riches and attracting those poor men who are begging for more eh? It maybe foolhardy, but you are under their spell in this well written and intoxicating write, love Dolly x
