I missed this, mainly because I've been down with the flu. I'm so sorry, my friend. I had the flu injection, I think they gave me a triple dose and it really knocked me for six. Now for your poem. I've seen the film of that, and there were a lot of brave men killed in the skirmish. But, they saved so many more lives. Australia is steeped in history going back thousand more years than the UK. You must be so proud, Kay. Well done my friend. Sorry I was so late. :) Sandra xx

Bless you my friend. Talking about flu injections. Our Govt. bought the cheap version of flu injections; it was the worst flu ever in Oz - 700 people died! Currently, there is an internal investigation going on. Apparently, the main flu strain was omitted from the cheap version. Love, Kay XX

Hey Kay,
This write was so informative for me since I know very little of Australia's history. Brave men seem to appear at just the right time in history when we need them the most. Solid rhyme and meter. Well done. :0 GracieAnn

Hello Possum, Thanks so much for reading. It has always been my aim to tell you about my country and it's history. At present, our Prime Minister is in Israel along with a brigade of present-day horsemen to remember the Battle of Beersheba 100 yrs. on. That battle turned the tide of history, that is why it is so famous. Love, Kace.

A well written poem. Good rhythm and flow. Easy to follow and tells a good historic tale.
The soldiers of the Horse Brigade were true heroes.

Well done.

Hi Aussie. Few people are aware that the Light Brigade
from Australia was active in WWI, but they performed
with gallantry and won the day from the Turks. The same
Turks that T.E. Lawrence crossed a desert on camel to
engage soon the legend and mystique of Lawrence of Arabia was born. My father fought in WWI with the 49th
Rainbow Division in France and though he didn't talk
about his war-time experiences I know he lost a brother
over there which tormented him all his life because he
was the Commanding Officer of the unit he and his
brother were in. Great and educational write Aussie. easy

This reminds me of the glory of the Pony Express with his men would ride for countless hours to all kinds of weather for days and days just to deliver a small parcel of maybe a hundred letters to their loved ones boy those were the days thanks for your thing with the Light Brigade interesting dr. Hello Ricky, Thanks for reading. The battle of Beersheba turned the tide of war in the Middle East. We took the wells from the Turks. Different from Pony Express in as much our men and horses died fighting the enemy. At present, our Prime Minister is in Israel to celebrate and remember those who gave their lives. Blessings, Kace.

Sweet, Jesus! What do I say, Kace? I'll start with, "Hurrah," you did it! A most commendable "War and History" presentation. The Artwork is awesome, and
is a "Salute," to the heroes courage. The message you send out, "Is crystal
clear." It is an honor that I pay tribute, to those who gave their lives so we
could have our freedom--and "Sing happy songs!" Please! Keep your creative
mind--"Creating!" Best wishes--and God bless.

I always love reading poems about WW1. Your words capture a sense of being on the battlefield. You give a voice to the men and horses who fought and gave up their lives.

Kace, having just recently watched Gallipoli with my daughters the other week this poem took me right back to the emotions of watching that movie. They were brave men to give their lives so young. This poem gives the reader a sense of being at the scene, in the dry heat, fighting hard for freedom. An excellent account in a poem for a shower of sixers. ~DD

Oooh, Thank you so much for the sixer. Gallipoli was one of the worst mistakes that the British made; dropped our men off at the wrong beach, they didn't have a snowflake's chance in hell. Beersheba was different, we had the upper hand against the Turks. Blessings, Kace XXX
