I really like this.... and its unusual take on Autumn's influence.
'She crimsons crowns of trees'... such a pleasing and lovely image.

with best wishes, Writeling

Whimsical, imaginative, well voiced and superb personification. Fine form (interesting form!) great use of alliteration and consonance and assonance instead of rhymes to make it musical.

I like this: leaf-littered parks,

I LOVE this:

She crimsons crowns of trees
And splashes gold amidst the boughs,

Good pensive closing note.

The only critique is that you have capped all lines but left this one lower case:

with sticky sap.

Lovely presentation. An enjoyable composition.

Warmly, rd

Thank you, rama devi, for your thoughtful, comprehensive review of "Autumn." I am delighted you enjoyed it so much and will edit that line which SHOULD be capitalized. Rod

Yes, it should, if you like capping all lines. Personally, I always avoid that style, as it does not serve well for enjambment (which I often use).

I usually don't cap all lines, but I was just following the model of the Campion example Berg gives in her book.

What a gorgeous poem about autumn! I love the way you've personified the season. I can almost see this autumnal maiden flitting around checking out her work and being pleased with herself. She really is quite the artist! Fall is such a beautiful time of year and you've captured that so well in this very creative and clever piece. I loved it! :)

Hi Rod,

I like the personification of Autumn as a "red-haired maiden", and "laughs and dances" makes me envision her glee in watching leaves falling and twirling.

Terrific verb choices ... "crimsons/splashes/preening/trims". "chestnut flounce" ... very original ... very nice! Vivid imagery has been created for your reader.

Thank you for introducing me to the 'Campion' form of poetry. Virtual six for this lovely Autumn poem.

What a delightful read -exquisite imagery 'red-haired maiden laughs'- interesting use of 'crimson' as a verb- it's a painter's autumnal palette combined with a poet's observant eye
