Hello Bill. I think the picture stops us all in our tracks. The words are like frosting to a cake. Completely adorable and anyone who dies for someone else or in service gets the immediate pass to God. Won't it be something to travel up that hill when it's time and touch the fingers of God? Well done. xoxo d

    Hi darling,
Thank you for the review and kind words. Your taking time to read my work, "Is an honor," babee! Sweet, Jesus! It will be something to travel up that hill when it's time to touch, "The Fingers of God!" However, in the meantime, "I'll touch your
beautiful face and smile!" Good hearing from you, "Whippersnapper."

    Love and kisses,
    Bill

I kick and cry. (should this be kicked and cried since the rest is past tense?)

I love the thought behind this poem. Although some days seem to last forever, overall, life is too short. Best wishes in the contest, my friend~Debbie

    Hi Debbi,
First of all, I want to thank you for reading my work. It "Is an honor!" Second! You're feedback, "Is warmly received!" This is a "Short story entry," and the rules tie me to a solid 20-syllables. Using "I kicked and cried" would equal 22. Cold hands pull at my feet--is now--the rest is past! I used: http://www.wordcalc.com for syllables. Sweet, Jesus! If it is wrong, "I'm gonna shoot it!" For after all, "that's what Grandpa would do. Of course, there were times I didn't listen to him and he had me plow an extra acre of corn. Golly-gee! The ole blue mule, "wore my pea-picking tail out!" A "Salute," for being there for me, my dear friend.
    Respectfully,
    Bill (Junglefighter)

Well, we all do. Life is as fleeting and short as your poem.
I love it. It's cute and so is the picture.
Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

I made my foot prints in life ...What a way to say that he lived a worthy life leaving great memories for those around him.

footprints on the sands of time....i remembered these lines from Psalm of Life.

A whole life encapsulated.Crying and kicking at one mile stone and proudly leaving at the other mile stone .In between miles travelled .Thank you for sharing .This has to win the contes.

This is very much a story in a short poem.
Life has the same ring to it no matter the creed, class or colour. We all roll around the same sort of pattern until we return to the earth.
It's a shame you couldn't add the rather poetic explanation in author's notes too as I enjoyed reading that particularly the 'tic toc' analogy.
Good luck : )

in the big scheme of things, one whole lifetime is a blink of the eye. Cute whimsical context to deliver this truth. Well presented, well timed and rhymed. Good consonance of C-K sounds. Well done. No nits.

Warmly, rd

This is s wonderfully written poem. I often envy the ones that can say so much in so few words. Your authors notes were appreciated as they helped define the write. Thanks for sharing. God bless

Well, this was a very sad poem, nicely done. If it wasn't for your notes, I'd think the baby died as it was born. ~Kerry

you said so much with so few words. Reminds us life is short.
But you hit all the premier moment with empathy and just the smallest bit of humor.

A life's journey encapsulated in four lines! Pretty good! From beginning to end, life can be a struggle and it is surely a matter of pride if one can overcome all obstacles on the way to the finishing post.
