Congratulations on winning with this clever and funny entry!! I just loved it. I've tried everything for hiccups, what works for me...just ignore them, they eventually go away. But, you're right, you can die! Awesome!! Blessings...

This piece couldn't be any better. I think you've found another specialty_Drunk Poetry.
The final 'hic' is inspired and lets us readers know we're in capable hands.

Marvelous Marv - you are so cute! This, like everything I write, is fiction. People always seem to think what I write is about me. T'aint so. But I'm glad you liked it many thanks for the 6!!!!!

Hahaha, this is great. I love the hiccupping throughout, the various dire warnings, and, especially, the ending!

I daresay most of us have had those hiccups now and then.

Yes, Fez, I know people have died from hiccups. Scary. We can die from most anything.

Hiccups are terrible. If they go on for too long they become painful too.
I know of an excellent remedy:
*You need to 'shock' your tastebuds into re-setting the vagus nerve.
A teaspoon of honey or sugar can do this for children, or try vinegar.
Adults--swallow some hot mustard.
Voila!
Cured.

The writer describes hiccuping though seems harmless can lead to an emergency that could lead to sudden death. This is a very good writing to ensure safety when hiccuping.

I don't know how serious a hiccup is! But I surely enjoyed your poem. It put a smile on my face from the first couple of lines. A fun and carefree poem that was a joy to read.

I believe I answered this once, but FS is intimating I didn't, so...I'm so glad my poem put a smile on your face! I did research the seriousness of hiccups and found that in some cases, prolonged hiccuping can be and has been fatal. Not the norm, however.

This poem, The Hiccup Hypothesis, takes a satirical look at the mysterious phenomenon of hiccuping. It seems to be a benign problem, unless you have them. This poem elevates them to life threatening.

Bill, Although FS seems to think I did not answer your review, I did, but here we go again. I did some research on the subject and there have been cases of prolonged hiccuping resulting in death. Though it is certainly not the norm, it can and does happen.

Not sure what all that means. This is the first reply I have received. Happy day.
