This is a great narrative. Creative. Fun. Well thought out and definitely written in flash fiction. I thought bird feeders in the back yard were an imperative. Great work. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. I have another bird, a woodpecker, that harasses me too. I call him Fluffy-Feathers because he always cusses me out and fluffs his feathers up at me. LOL>

This is so cute. I have the exact same situation. The birds fly right up to the atrium door and peek in, sometimes they peck the glass, too--"tunk, tunk." Really amazing how they get our attention. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. Great job. Marilyn

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. If someone calls you a birdbrain it must be a compliment, right?

Yes, I'll take that as a compliment.

This is great. I did not know or forgot or something that I can write about almost anything. To make it clever and enjoyable requires a great sense of humor. Yours comes through with the short piece.

LOL A cute and slightly annoying write (for you I mean haha) and I understand the frustration of small birds that become major agitators.

We used to have a tiny honeyeater and eventually his whole family that moved in and awoke us at some unearthly hour every morning when he was in season...until we removed his tree LOL

The tree was already earmarked to go but he helped hurry it along LOL

A delightful read and I sensed your absolute frustration!

Tunk Tunkriffic!

Cheers P

Over here in Australia, we have Ibis and crows that come up to my front door screen and let me know they are hungry. They always are. I feed them bread and fill their water bowl. Great little piece, prettybluebirds, Sincerely Anne.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. Maybe when someone calls you a bird brain one should take it as a compliment. LOL

A very well-written hundred word flash fiction. The little birds seem to be very clever and know exactly how to get our attention that work everytime. We have a little bird knocking on our window every afternoon at three o clock. I am still trying to figure out why.

As I was reading this all I could think of was my mom's bird feeder's, squirrel food, bird bath and the little rabbit hut she made (the neighbor cat took over) for when it was cold.
She would tell my sister and I when she opened the back door a chipmunk or little bird would be on the bannister as if to say "bird feeder is empty."
She has sense stop feeding them. We got a rogue squirrel that kept trying to get in. It would hang off the window screens and we would have to hit the bottom of the door to scare it off. It was hanging off the dining room window as I practiced piano, scared me when it jumped on. It finally got in one night chewed through the backdoor screen. That's it no more feeding anything.

So they do know where their food comes from.

Thanks for reading and commenting. Pigeons are the main problem here. There must be fifty of them and they can finish a bag of bird seed in two days. I may have to quit feeding them as It is too expensive.

This is very good and fits the contest requirements. You should do well. A friend and I were sitting on my lanai one day. We noticed that the bird feeder was empty. My wife was at work, but I knew she had bought some bird seed. I filled the feeder. Soon we noticed that the ground was littered with dead birds. I picked up the bag. Fertilizer.

Thanks for reading and commenting. I'm surprised the birds would eat the fertilizer. Sad mistake.

It is amazing how wild things learn our habits. The birds here know just when I
throw out the table scraps or feed the cats. The tunking bluebird knew how to get to you. Excellent short flash prose.

Thanks for reading and commenting. That bird drives me nuts. He will sit there and tunk for hours on end.

Love your bluebird story. I have a window feeder and I saw a young morning dove chase away a bluejay. Obviously, you have a very intelligent bluebird who knows where his next meal is coming from. Excellent story and brings a smile to my day.
