This poem, Green Eyes and Spam,is loaded with funny created words and and clever rhyme. The theme, of course, being Trump-bashing, is clear.

This work has reached the exceptional level

I agree with every word you have written here. They won't even give Trump a chance to prove he can run the country. You are right, if he cured cancer they would say Russia had something to do with it. good work. I hope you win the contest, you should with this poem.

Your poem raises some interesting observations.
There is no such thing as freedom of speech anymore, not unless you are left and say leftist things.
Hats off to you for having your say.

In the old days, it was called MUTINY to go against the ship's captain.
TREASON if one went against the King.
COURT-MARSHALLED to be put to death for defying the army.

But if you are left you can do anything to offend the right.
If you are right and put an image of a left leader's severed head on a placard -- there will be consequences.

Personally, I don't like extremes.
The lack of respect and trouble-making displays a foolish nation that will hang itself. USA enemies are laughing up their sleeves as they wait to pounce.
America is crumbling from the inside out. It is being destroyed by its own people.

totally agree. am so mad at out own repubs in congress I could spit - pardon.
but the libs are despicable, and you're right, we're ruining our own country. I really fear for it.
I have had a couple of angry responses, but several people who agree, which is gratifying.

Wonderful whimsy --a light touch to a heavy subject (for some). I mostly stay out of it. While I am not a supporter of Trump even an iota, i do not agree with some people's methods of hurling negativity either.

I have to admire this satirical spoof on the Dr. Seuss green eggs and ham book. I also admire your conviction and the way this highlights integrity and respect as ideal values (I agree with those!)

This has the same bouncy beat and great inventive rhymes--Dr. Seuss would love it (for that, though perhaps not for the content)...people may have legitimate reasons for bashing him...I disagree with this line, though applaud it's voicing:

Accusations all a sham,

While the last line's rhyme is forced here, I like it read aloud:

Sulking, spitting pure flim-flam?
Most unethical they am.

This rhyme medley is superb:

Do you like them on TV?
Do you like their repartee?
Lacking in integrity
Grain of truth there? Nor siree.

(though I tend to disagree...see...that rhymed too!

*wink*

I agree with this:

Why can't they become good sports?
And stop being out of sorts--

I would love to see him do good things and earn the respect no one gives him (yet).

Would love to see everyone 'back in sorts'

This is well voiced (though as unfair, in my honest opinion, as you claim 'them' to be towards 'him'):

Bashing Trump and all he does,
Worstest losers ever was.

These rhymes are fantastical:

Do you think them ethical?
I think they're pathetical
Even anesthetical--
Good sleep aid, I betical.

(still, though I cannot agree, I applaud your finesse in expressive and inventive rhyming! Impressive!)

This rhyme pair is sheer genius:

I don't like green eyes and spam
All the time--ad-nau-seam:

* one spag:

Flappin', yappin:' "Get him out!"

the ' after yappin' needs to come before the :

*
Doesn't matter what he says(,)
They nit-pick our battered Pres.

clever rhyme and abbreviation there.

this is outstanding:

If he cured can-cer today,
Russia helped him, they would say.

Not sure you need the hyphen in cancer...a bit distracting, though i understand it is intended for meter purposes. I suggest using quotes, too (optional):

If he cured cancer today,
"Russia helped him," they would say.

This is well voiced in the Dr. Suess rhythm:

I don't like the way they slam.
I am angry. Yes, I am.
Please just let the poor man be;
Let him help our grand country.

However, this is the first line to be off-scansion with forced meter. All other lines have masterful meter. the word country is not accented on the second syllable, naturally...so doing it sounds forced.

*
Ethics and I(i)ntegrity--

*
If, in future(,) we would see

I agree with the closing line...people should be respectful, even when they disagree.

Well crafted work. Bravo

Warmly, rd

thank you so much for your thorough review! and how nice that though we disagree, you were very nice in your critique. I figured certain words that you said were forced, I blame Dr. Seuss :) He was loose with words, sometimes - tho not meter, for sure. So Can-cer and country - I figured people could emphasize both syllables. and "most unethical they am" is typical Seuss - so why forced? just curious. I like your sense of humor and applaud your fairness and the use of iota. yay!
    many thanks again!

This such is a wonderful read, capturing the image brilliantly, very sublime, almost charmed in its presentation.
Nice echoing of sounds throughout, It's kind of nice to read another side to the story, Its like an oasis moment in the craziness of life.
Absolutely lovely.

Nice poetic cometary. If it was all that gloriously simple. There is another side to that coin, if someday you happen to turn it over, you'll see (maybe) the same poetic political rhetoric. Substituting one hate for another is still hate. Regardless of where it comes from. It's still Green eyes and spam. Belief creates your own truth, whether it is or it isn't, makes no difference, you believe it, and that is your truth. Loved the poem, when you become brave enough to turn the coin over, you'll see it's interchangeable.

Sir, I'm sure it is, but I do not subscribe to the beliefs of the Democrats. I am not for government control of everything or free rides for those undeserving, also I believe there is nothing wrong with with requiring IDs to vote and there are many other things. I believe our history should be preserved, not destroyed. Violence is not the conservative's way. I can't say the same for libs. I see the other side of the coin every day. I do not like what I see.
I do thank you for the 5, and the fact that you like my poem. To show you I have a "nicer" side, I'm working on more lyrics for a country western song. :) I never win, but i keep trying.

I loved the play on Dr. Seuss. I actually agree with your thinking. One side is no better than the other. Each one capable of much rhetoric and chaos. The rhyme of course contributes to the strong message of the poem and the spirit of Green Eggs and Ham plays wonderfully with your subject. I enjoyed reading it.

OMG----I LOVE this. In a parody, you managed to playfully capture what so many Americans feel unable to speak. The green eyes throughout gave lent an extra layer. This makes me want to check out your book; that's what I"m about to do now!

Sorry Pome - I'm fresh out of sixers! The corrupt media is owned by a few corporations that mean the US no good. The outspoken critics (Dems and Reps alike), methinks are somehow in the pockets of said corps. I just pray "We the People" are not stupid enough to fall for the paid protesters (of said corps.) They are throwing everything they've got at him right now. Of all the candidates, I think was Trump was the only one saavy enough, smart enough, and tough enough to take them on.
Will he be able to overcome this onslaught?
Stay tuned.

I agree with you whole heartedly and am ready to murder the Repubs in Congress who aren't getting anything done. The poor man is besieged with nay sayers. And am so angry at the tearing down of statues - removing history and denying history. And I'm tired of everything - no matter how ridiculous - being blamed on Trump. If we don't get tax reform and fix healthcare, etc, we don't stand a chance of keeping some seats. grrrrr!
We're gearing up for Harvey here - it's gotten very windy and rainy. hope we don't lose electricity.

At least Georgia, (your "home state"), had the chops to elect Karen Handel. Maybe you can bring some "Georgia Moxie" to Texas. lol
