You have bravely written what is on your heart and I applaud you for it!
When you write, "All must seek inside to hear", you are sharing true wisdom. We seem to be losing our inner humanity by giving into the loud and angry voices so prevalent in public discourse at present ... how very important it is to be able to look inside one's self and hear the beating of our own heart. I truly believe the human heart could triumph here, if only we would listen.
The most important monuments are the ones we are creating within our own moment of history, and I would hate to see those monuments as viewed by future generations.
Good people on both (many) sides must be willing to listen and to love ... we are not enemies, just because we disagree.
Thank you for this lovely poem, thought provoking poem.
Blessings, Analie

This poem you have penned is well done, my friend. I like the line,
"What is the best answer here?
All must seek inside to hear"

Very well-written poem, the topic one that I totally agree with. We shouldn't destroy what the old monuments represent, we should build new ones alongside them to show the level of progress that has been made since the old ones were erected. That is the way to go forward, to remember all we have done, good and bad, and hope to continue to improve. Not that the way the world is going at the moment shows much change now. Well done. :) Sandra xx

This poem speaks very true of what is going on in the U.S. right now, particularly with Charlotteslville. People split up based on their views and the need to grow rather than stay the same. It makes for a powerful piece, especially for someone who is grappling with their own morality.

In a frenzy of political correctness, some would destroy our historic monuments. They forget that moments not only serve to remind us of the good in our past but also the sacrifices that were made.

nice positive poem.
encouraging positive thought and actions,
rather than destructive.
History is in the making - make it a good history and
also preserve the old.
good message.

Yes, fear is in the air.
Violence just destroys the country.
It seems there is no middle ground anymore
Therein lies the problem. A meeting of the many
who are more alike than different is needed.
An excellent poem that contains a solid idea
Well done with great art work to match

I like the flow of the poem and the metaphor used here. The message I got from this is we as a society should not live in fear (I could be wrong). Thank you for sharing

The United States is going to be just fine, even with all the naysayers out there trying to tear it down.
The last stanza is exactly what needs to happen. "Build new ones of the growth indeed" and hold on to the old monuments as well.
